if you see a bald white guy pushing around a twin stroller say hi.
the river towns can be interesting. zhujiajiao is the nearest one to shanghai. not as nice but much quicker.
shanghai is a great city to wander. walk around the neighborhoods around the bund, near yuyuan gardens and french concession area. temples are really weak.

Eat jian bing (a street snack, superdelicious) in Beijing; I wish we’d eaten more!
Walk around the Xi’an city wall (you can get to it from the South Gate) or rent a bike and ride around. You will have to pay extra when you return the bike because there’s no way you can get around the thing in the time they give you unless you don’t stop at all, but it’s only an extra few RMB.
Go to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. My wife and I love that place…of course, we got engaged there.
