Sorry for leaving everyone hanging, but I didn’t have computer access at all last weekend. Now on to the details!

We arrived late Thursday evening at the Pigeon Point lighthouse and checked into our room at the hostel there and shortly after settling in, went to sleep. I awoke at 5:00 under the pretense of taking sunrise photos and gathered the necessary supplies. I had a brief scare when my now ex-girlfriend (heh, thanks Hal) awoke and asked me if I wanted her to go with me. After a second of sheer panic in which I saw my carefully laid plans disappear like a sheet of flash paper, I gently persuaded my love to stay in the warm bed and sleep for a bit longer. HA! Success! A quietly crept outside where the sun was just starting to lighten the Eastern horizon.
Once outside, I scouted around and soon found beach access to a small cove just south of the lighthouse. I took the message in a bottle and half buried it in the sand next to a large rock. The overall effect was just perfect. I then proceeded to take the sunrise photos of the lighthouse, shoreline, etc., before going back to the room
I got back just as my beloved was getting up and she wanted to see the sunrise…perfect! We walked around a bit, took some more photos, and in general enjoyed the glorious scenery. My love was getting cold and was wanting to go back to the room when I “discovered” the trail to the beach and convinced her to explore for a few minutes more.
While I was shooting her next to a rock she said, “What’s that?”
“What’s what?”
“That over there…it looks like a bottle.”
“Probably just trash.”
She walk over and inspects it…, “It looks like there’s a note in it…I’m going to read it.”
She takes the bottle, pulls the note out and starts reading my insipid poem which concludes:
“I can’t write Poems
(As You can see),
So I’ll ask you now:
Will you Marry Me?”
Meanwhile, her back is to me, so I pull out the ring, get down on one knee and when she turns around…BAM! She has tears in her eyes (probably from the bad poem), and she says yes!
