Fantastic!
The lungs cleaning themselves is a part of the process I had totally forgotten about, but it happened to me too it’s weird and gross to think that is what you have been doing to yourself.
Keep up the good work.

Yeah, me too. Part of my reason for quitting is because I hate having to find places to do it, and my general aversion to smoking in public. So that’s another motivator.
I found it at Online Quit Smoking Tools | Quit Smoking Counter - Quit Smoking Software and Quit Meters, Quit SMoking Blog, News, Quit Tips, Gadgets, Software and Videos on quitting | Smoking cessation. But it’s not going to do you a bit of good, since the guy who runs the site seems to have neglected the counter for a while and it won’t let you pick a quit year of 2012. (And incidentally, it seems to have shifted from giving the time in UTC to GMT, which is a distinction without a difference, but still I think it’s weird.)
Never fear, however, since the counter at http://www.dedicateddesigns.com/qk/ does allow this. And it gives you a whole bunch of extra stuff. For example, I’ve added you (and some other Dopers as my buddies). You do have to download it though.
The first time I read this I asked myself how the hell you knew I was going to be in Philadelphia next month, but then I realized you weren’t talking about me.
Got it, thanks! It looks like I’ve saved just over $75.00, so I’ll be able to afford the gas to go to Philly.
I’ll go ahead and add you guys to my list. QuitKeeper looks like it’ll be good to have.
I have been quit for 2 Weeks, 2 Days, 19 hours, 47 minutes and 46 seconds (16 days). I have saved $75.71 by not smoking 252 cigarettes. I have saved 21 hours of my life. My Quit Date: 3/12/2012 12:00 AM
When I was smoking, I recall being outraged when cigarettes reached a $1 a pack. A whole dollar! I can’t even imagine what a chunk of money they cost now.
Of course, you’re welcome to meet up with the rest of us on the 15th. ![]()
When I started smoking [sub]in 1986,[/sub] cigarettes were 1.50 a pack and grown-ups were complaining about that. The last pack I bought cost $6.50 or so, and some stores had them as much as a dollar a pack higher. Funny, I always had money for cigarettes even if I wasn’t sure I had money for lunch.
I just passed 12 years of not smoking, after 21 years of being on the butts. Good on all of you for the willpower and determination!
RadicalPi keep it up! You’re doing great. I’m been following this and will continue to do so.
And Robyn, I know you can do this. One hour, one day, one week at a time. Feel free to email me if you need more encouragement.
Rock on, folks. Non-smokers rule.
Keep it up everyone, it gets so much better.
I went to dinner with one of my long time friends this past weekend, I walked out with him to keep a conversation going as he smoked, he didn’t have a light and had to go bum one, another smoker gave him their matches but then it went out about half way through.
As he had to ask for another match I couldn’t contain my self and was chuckling despite trying to hold it in.
The woman with the matches gave me a glance and said “you non-smokers just don’t understand”
I tried to regain my composure and apologetically explain that the chuckling was not directed at them but that I had quit 15 months previous.
I didn’t know how to share that although the couple of weeks after quitting was really “difficult” in hind site it was brief compared to the daily suffering you have to put up with just to maintain as a smoker, it only took 18 years to figure out
Thanks for the encouragement. I still don’t want to smoke, but the oral thing is starting to creep in and it’s a challenge not to put something (especially food) into my mouth. I may have to alter my habits so I don’t have any snack food in the house aside from sugar-free Jello and fruit. I’ve got gum, though, so that should help. (It’s chocolate-mint flavor, not nicotine.) I’m also trying to stay busy, so I’ve picked up a few more volunteer responsibilities, and that should help.
Surprisingly, virtual encouragement has been good. I post semi-regular updates on Facebook and now in this thread, which has been helpful because I can post that anywhere and get responses anywhere. And I may well e-mail. ![]()
I don’t know if this would be practical for you but when ever I got a crave I made a point of getting up and taking a quick walk around the block.
I just had what I hope is my last cigarette ever
Please channel some of your willpower to me.
Best luck Tim!!
I am not sure if you are going cold turkey or if you are using a replacement theropy but here is a link to some videos that really helped me get through the hard times.

You will love life as a non-smoker!
Done and done. Best of luck, tim. It only sucks for a while.
I don’t have a lot of willpower myself, but best of luck. Life really is better as a non-smoker.
Don’t hope, make it your last one. Say it out loud, it sounds silly but it helps. Don’t fight with yourself but be resolute. You clearly want to quit, so when you get the urge just remind yourself that you don’t have to give in to the addiction and that it will go away soon. Remind yourself why you wanted to quit.
You can do this. You can absolutely do this, and it is well worth it. Congratulations on being a non smoker.
Good luck!
I step away for a few days, and find not one…but two!!! new quitters!
You can do it. **RadicalPi **is proof.
