If it is any consolation, what you have accomplished so far makes me insanely jealous. You’ve written three novels! You’ve been published!! FOR MONEY!!! This puts you well ahead of most writers. Way to go!
Well, Deadlyaccurate, now that you’ve got electricity again, are you considering of re-sending it? What have you got to lose? I mean, except for 12 pages of paper, ink, an envelope and a stamp. Seems like a negligible price to me, considering what’s at stake (your peace of mind and the chance to win that contest!).
Sure, unlike the setting contest, they said that multiple entries aren’t a good idea. But then again, they didn’t forbid multiple entries either. Besides, it wouldn’t even be one in the strictest sense, but rather a revision. I really think you should re-send it
All right, ten days after hearing about the contest, I finally managed to write up the one page synopsis (in a 10 point font) and the ten pages of story (double spaced, 12 point font, so it’s just over 3000 words).
Phew, that was a lot of work and now the dreaded proof-reading / revision / rewriting phase begins…
Hopefully I’ll be able to send it off sometime next week
Thanks! And I wish you the best of luck too, DeadlyAccurate. I just read through my synopsis again and severely revised it. It still sounds far fetched and stupid, but I blame the 1 page restriction on that
P.S.: I’d like to read your entry, once the deadline has passed and if you’re in the mood for sharing
I just reconsidered: I don’t know how strict Wizards of the Coast is, so I guess it’s not a good idea to exchange what we have submitted right after the deadline.
It’s probably a better idea to wait and see whether WotC rejects both our entries and if it should come to that, then it’s safe to compare notes
