I was 5’4", I really was. I remember being measured during a clinic visit and I was definitely five feet, four inches tall.
I went to Denver. Necros snickered at my height. He stood next to me, proving his superiority. Yeah, yeah so he’s closer to the ceiling than me. Big deal.
“How tall are you, anyway?” he asked. I told him my height; 5’4"! That’s what it says on my ID. I’ve been that tall for about 2 years. Height came up in chat today, for reasons I can’t remember. But I did remember Necros saying that there was no way I could be 5’4". So I measured myself.
Five feet, two and a half inches?! (And yes, that half inch means the world to me.) WTF? Where’d the inch and a half go? Max Torque says it’s because I don’t eat right. Hell, I don’t eat period. But, whatever the reason, I’m definitely shrinking. And that is so sad.
If you want to be taller, measure yourself in the morning…really! By the end of the day, gravity has slightly compressed your spine, making you shorter. Sleeping gives it a chance to stretch out.
Also, I’m convinced people shrink slowly as they age. Have you seen an old person lately? They’re shorties! But 1 1/2 inches in two years is a bit much…
Not to be an alarmist, but you might consider going to your doctor for a bone density test. The first clue my mom had that she was getting osteoporosis was that she suddenly lost two inches of height. I’m willing to bet you’re nowhere near my mom’s age, but it might not be a bad thing to check out, just in case. If it does turn out to be osteoporosis, the bone loss can be halted or at least slowed if you take some action right away.
Or else you just need to stand up straight (young lady!).
