What you are reading now is my 100th post to this board, barring the hamsters devouring it, of course.

I looked back through my posts, and have been filled with a deep sense of regret.

The vast (over 80%, I’d say) majority of my posts have been inane, pointless, ill-thought-out drivel. And it took me a over a year to do it.

And so I’m sorry. Specifically, I’m sorry to the hamsters; to the routers, switches, hubs, NICs, and cables; the vBulletin software; and especially the database, for having to transmit, store, retrieve, and display my inane, pointless, ill-thought-out drivel for all the world to see. Your time and capacity would be better spent on other matters.

I’d like to say I’m sorry to the mods, but frankly I think I’m helping them. “Oh good, Plavacek,” they can say, “I can just skip this one. He spouts nearly nothing but drivel. Harmless drivel, though.” This would, I believe, increase their efficiency, which I’m sure is what they are striving for.

However, I am sorry to the OPs of every thread I’ve appeared in. Your thread (most likely) did not deserve to be dilluted with my inanity.

I will sincerely try to make the next hundred better than the last. I’m shooting for a 60-40 ratio, minimum. See you in 2004.

Um, have you read any of the other posts on this board? An estimate of 80% drivel would be exceedingly generous.

Having recently posted my 100th, I know what you are going through, Plavacek. The hours wasted. The flashes of brilliance that in retrospect turn out to be nothing but pitiful blather. The desperate need for recognition and approval that never come. The crushing knowledge that you will never catch up with the SDMB gods.

Hang in there. It gets better. And, just in time, we have SmileyDeath to show us that yes, we could have been even bigger fools. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here I was, wallowing in my blissfully errant math, and, like a hard-hit baseball, you shatter the pain (yuk yuk yuk) of my ignorance.

lainaf, thanks for the understanding. I have no intention of catching the Gods, or even the middle tier. I’d settle for “clawing my way out of the sewers.”

Yes, Terminus Est, that is exactly what I mean. Much better than 80% inane AND pointless, 20% just plain god awful. Well, I hope so anyway.

And Gorgon Heap…you poor, misguided soul :stuck_out_tongue: If this is “well-spoken”, your standards must have been crushed to a fine pulp and ground under the heel of some horrible troll. Demand more! No one rises to low expectations!

Well, this is a fine way to start my second hundred. Sigh. I have so much work to do, and so few posts to do it.
