I'm surprised that probiotic capsules actually work! -or- TMI

Recently I went through a couple series (two different infections) of Keflex which clearcut my personal biome, leaving it looking like a former Brazilian rain forest. They are remodeling the washrooms at work, so any rush visits require me to go down two stories, which require too much advanced planning, if you know what I mean . Yogurt with live cultures helped some, with no pain since I love yogurt, but I needed a more diverse population. I bit the bullet and bought WalMart’s cheapest “daily” probiotic. Mira lo! It seems to work! I don’t know how those little bugs survive my internal hydrochloric acid bath, but some did.

I don’t know why someone would need to take it daily, since your population should always be growing.

If you want to alter your microbiome you might have to take something daily. Although a better course of action might be to provide the food a healthy microbiome needs in the form of prebiotics, especially different types fiber from multiple sources. I’ve had good results with oat bran and if you get enough of it, it will lower your LDL cholesterol.

Doing both, but one needs the other.
