I'm trying to locate a Life magazine photo.

A buddy of mine is turning 50 in April.

Last month I saw a Life magazine framed photo in an old folks home circa 1940s or 1950s of 5 guys all having their heads together under the hood of a coupe. All you can see is their backs and all of them wearing jeans.

This photo is so apropos of what its like at my buddy’s shop where a group of us regularly watch Vancouver Cunuck hockey games and review the progress of his restoration and upgrading of several vehicles in the shop prior and during intermissions.

If its no trouble can you help me get a start on
acquiring this photo ?

I’ve exhausted my google skills on this.

Thanx

Spent a little time looking this up for you, but I’m pretty sure this is it. The title of the photo is “Teenage Boy Showing the Engine of His First Car, a 1951 Mercury.” You can buy a print here: 50,394 Classic cars Posters and Art Prints | Barewalls

I’ll piggyback a Life photo search on this one. I saw it in one of those hardbound Life collections. It was black and white, and the subject was a female Olympic hurdler just chilling out. Very leggy. Not American, I think. Likely from one of the Nordic countries.

Thankyou very much MsWhatsit

Drastic Quench, the picture you describe sounded familiar. I have a Best Of Life Photos Collection book. I found what I think you want. Just Google image search “Gunhild Larking” She was a 1956 Olympic high jumper from Sweden.

Oh my.. <3

Word!

She’s now 75 years old.

Thanks! It was this one.
