I tried for days and couldn’t do it myself so I hired someone to hook up my iMac to my d-link router. While it took him 5 hours he finally did it. It had been working fine but last night it would not connect, the airport icon said “No network selected” I played around for awhile and got it to work, but don’t recall what I did and now it is the same story. I mucked around for about an hour but couldn’t find what I did before. How do I select my network, named default? What can I do to stop this from happening in the future?
Well, I just spent another 3 hours trying to get the imac to connect. I keep getting cannot find network.
How many bars are you getting on your Airport indicator in the top right menu bar?
Did you install the Airport Extreme card, or did it come installed. I’m not sure about the new iMac G5’s, but my new PowerMac G5 dual had a little antenna wire I had to manually pop into the card. After I did that, I was in business.
I have a PowerBook and a D-Link wireless router, and I lose connection when the computer sleeps or when the distance is too great. Click on the little Airport icon (upper right) and the menu should include “default” – if not, you’re out of range. If you reposition the computer or the router, the “default” menu item should reappear.
