IMAX movie made of Saturn Cassini Photographs Coming Out

This guy (yes, it’s really one guy) has been working on a movie made of the millions of photos Cassini has taken of Saturn and its moons for years, and it’s due to come out in 2014.

The clips I’ve seen send chills down my spine. Honestly, the teaser he just released isn’t the best (it’s too many quick cuts - other bits he’s put out give you nice long rides of flying around and through the rings and of zipping off to the moons, etc.).

But it is in 4K resolution, which is pretty sweet.

I can’t wait to see this thing 4 stories high.

A different kind of Cassini photo: http://www.tested.com/science/space/458434-portrait-humanity-was-nearly-sent-titan/?icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl9|sec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D389263

Stunning! I’m in.

Very cool, but I’m not sure I buy the whole “real photographs, non-digital” thing. Unless the Cassini probe returned a canister of film from Saturn, the pictures were digital when they were transmitted back to Earth.

At least, I’m pretty sure they were digital. They don’t use analog transmission for that, do they?

I don’t see anyone claiming that the images aren’t digital (it’s even “presented by Big & Digital” )–just that they are real, “no CGI/VFX.”
