immoral Republicans

Okay, Guin, I stand whooshed. :smack:

Moving this from IMHO to The BBQ Pit.

Guinistasia knows me!

Yes, I should have bene more concise, that it the "fundie"position, not mine!!!

I’d thought most people would know me enough to know that, sorry.
Guin knew that though.
She’s cool, truly.

I am actually not a Democrat.
I voted D once and R once and the other times written in. 4 years ago I voted Green and the Grene party is closest to matching my political views so i am really a Green but will NOT vote Green this year!

Yep yep, can’t be votin’ for no sissy liberal who dun like dem faggots. God haites 'em, and so does da friar!

stable marriages?

NEXT THING YOU KNOW PEOPLE WILL BE MARRYIN HORSES!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

NO! We cannot allow people to marry horses. That would crap all over my marriage to my dog!

AND if you marry a horse AND a dog, its polygamy and its ALL downhill from there.

OK, let me throw out a few more current Republicans and one noted historical ones. Here are the current ones:

Bob Barr – author of the Defense of Marriage Act, yet on his 3rd wife. Perhaps he’s one of the people we should be defending marriage against?!

Helen Chenoweth – another staunch, family values Republican who had a long term affair

Newt Gingrich asked his second wife for a divorce oer the phone while she was attending her mother’s birthday party.

Here’s the historical one, and I’m almost tempted to go out to one of these fora and watch the fur fly: Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration, Founding Father, 3rd president, etc. Not only was he called an Atheist, there is a story about one woman in New England who asked a friend of hers, a staunch Federalist, to take care of her Bible. When he asked her why, she said it was because she’d been told that if the Republicans took over, they’d burn all the Bibles. When he asked her why, then, she was giving it to him, she replied they’d never think to look for a Bible in a Federalist house. (I’ve been reading a book of electoral campaigns in America to give perspective on the current mess!)

Finally, you could argue that conservatives support killing women. Here’s the arguement. If abortion is outlawed when the life of the woman is in danger, that means that, by law, a woman with a pregnancy which will kill her will not be allowed to terminate that pregnancy (or abort that baby, if you prefer) and will, as a direct result of the law, be required to die, even if she hasn’t committed a crime. Yes, that’s harsh and extreme, and, if it offended people, I apologize, but to me, that’s every bit as realistic as saying those of us who are pro-choice support killing babies. I prefer to avoid extremes, but sometimes they can be appropriate counter-measures.

 That is hillarious! […wiping tears…]

vanilla, the christianforums.com board is a a waste-land of ignorance, sanctimonious jerks, self-righteous bigots, and general confusion. I hate that board. The tipping point for me was reading the worst thread I’ve ever read entitled “Can christians be democrats?” Instead of keeping my blood simmering indefinetely trying to argue with complete morons, I just stopped going to christian forums.

You’re married to a horse and a dog, and they’re crapping on each other? Look, I don’t care what consenting adults of whatever species do in the privacy of their own bedroom, but think about the children!!! I mean, next think you know you’ll be adopting, and who will teach the poor kid proper species roles?

Hey, let’s keep this dog and pony show clean here, folks.

Frankly, I have a hard time finding a moral polititian in either party.

Aw, heck. These are Christians we’re dealing with, so let’s go Biblical. I don’t have my Bible handy, so I can’t cite Chapter and verse, but I’m pretty sure I’m working out of the book of Matthew.

Let me see. There’s the passage which reads something like this: “Do not be like the hypocrites who stand on the street corner and pray for their reward is on earth.” This knocks off a bunch of politicians who like to play the “more Christian than thou” card; on the other hand, it might also apply to the folks on that board, so they may not care for it much.

There’s also the bit where Christ talks about people being banished to hell who were quite proud of their piety who ask him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry?” etc. If I recall, Jesus told them that when they failed to give food to anyone who was hungry, etc. so they failed to give food to him. That would seem to imply that any politician who supports cuts in benefits for the poorest Americans is immoral. Rick Santorum comes to mind, but that’s because I remember him refusing to fund a plan which would provide health insurance to children who have none.

Christ said the two greatest commandments were to love God and love your neighbor and that all the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments. How can insulting and degrading people you disagree with line up with those two commandments?

CJ

It can’t.
Even you posting there wouldn’t convince them.
And would only mess with your blood pressure.

Yeah, but there’s that passage about man not lying with a man as he would a woman or suffering death. And God so totally brutally destroyed Sodom. Yeah, there’s some stuff in there about love and humility - somewhere toward the back, I think - but that’s not important right now.

And this is a bad thing?

Where does it say in the Bible that abortion is immoral?

I think my buddy Vanilla is more referring to the hypocricy of a lot of republicans. They talk the talk…but when it comes to walking the walk…they come up a bit short.

It just goes to show that it’s all a political game to them.

Bolding mine.

SPOOFE, I take issue with these statements. Most of my “die-hard Christian” friends are Democrats. Including, by inclination, me. (I actually vote for a person and that person’s stated platform, not Democrat by rote. However, I have voted for a Republican so seldom that for our purposes here, we can consider me a Democrat.)

From my own personal experience, my friends (and myself) care very MUCH about “morality.” Perhaps we define “morality” differently than you do?

vanilla, I have read a lot of things you said in the past few months, and I am honestly curious. See, it appears to me as though even YOU don’t know what you truly believe. For instance, let’s just link to this thread.

I am truly not trying to be nasty here, I am quite sincerely confused.
