Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, this is pot.
That’s nice, dear.
What can I say, I have little tolerance for fools. And watching folks like you continue to unquestioningly defend the immoral and shameless behavior of this President in thread after thread marks you as a fool in my mental ledger. Ergo, I have little patience to expend on playing nice with you, and don’t see any point in doing so.
But that’s okay, since I harbor no delusions that you have any warm ‘n lovin’ feelings for me, either. Luckily, I’m not doing this for your approval, so it all works out.
You are not of the Body. You are not one with Landru.
I have to admit that my first thought also was that Scylla does not deserve to be lumped in with TBC. He is a worthy opponent. Wrong, but worthy.
Cervaise, don’t tell Ilsa to shut up. Remember, this is a TBC Roast.
Really Not All That Bright, yes you are.
EddyTeddyFreddy, oh god, you’re young! But you’re very funny!
< > Is that closer?
Munch see, Munch do.
Young? YOUNG??? Would that it were so (positing that I knew then what I know now). Examine the last line of my sig, dear Zoe.
The Board is a wonderful place
We meet, mind to mind, never face
(Except at a Fest,
Some few are so blessed)
Ghost electrons in vast cyberspace.
But you said "I want to have cordial, respectful discussions with political opponents " but someone who disagrees with you politically is by your definition a shameless fool.
I don’t understand how you can claim to wish to be cordial with opponents when the fact that they oppose you means they are fools and not worth the patience of “playing nice.”
You’ve defined yourself as hostile and intolerant of opposing political viewpoints. How do you reconcile this with your stated desire for cordiality.
Unless you want this Coulterization of the intra-electoral dialogue to continue, you must stop engaging in it.
As long as there’s at least one person doing it, there will never be no one doing it.
I know that I don’t have the time or the energy to denounce every single one of the sweeping generalizations that erupt like rashes on this Board about “Pubbies” and conservatives etc.
The choice is yours to make for yourself. I for one encourage you to find common ground with your fellow Americans. I believe that fundamentally we all desire similar things for our country.
Now would be a good time to begin working toward re-uniting the country. Think of Lincoln’s finer moments, (forget the other stuff).
A face-saving way has to be found to allow our brethren to change their minds. It’s easier to change your mind when you can keep your face attached to it.
As long as you, (or I), participate in and/or encourage the Coulterization of political dialogue in this country it will continue. While restraint on our parts may not bring an immediate end to the Coulterization process, active participation in the process will certainly propagate the mostly negative and destructive effects of it.
While it is your choice whether or not to be smug and belittle your fellow Americans who may not’ve as astute as you* about certain things,* I argue that the choice to do so is detrimental not only to those who you belittle, the nation as a whole, and the American dream in general, but to yourself and your own wider, long-term interests.
YMMV.
Really? Ooh, thank you
Wait… what am I, exactly…?
Intellectually, I agree. emotionally, I’m still working on it. I never claimed to be a saint.
Just one of those goals I need to achieve before I reach nirvana, I suppose.
