A lot of the replies are just swearing, name calling. And as you also stated, Putin apologist. No facts to reply to. But it is the BBQ pit, so fair enough.
I did go out in the weeds on the other thread. With others. It happens. Moderation was correct.
I was not afraid to start this thread. It was a stupid idea to start it. You started it based on your opinion of my posts. I felt my posts were fine. But they did start to go outside the thread intent in reply. So I pulled back to the intent on that thread.
Even as others continued to go off there on me.
I note that you could not resist cross posting to yap at me here. I posted a list of what I think are good links to current events in the war. Reasonable thing to post in a current events of a war thread.
Not sure if moderators feel that is off base. But the thread is filled with links to various sources. Good, bad, whatever.
But you didn’t start a thread to defend your posts.
Lets look at the facts.
Ukraine is steadily losing ground. Not due to the caliber of it’s military, which is excellent. But due to being on the negative side of military facts.
The biggest fact being supply. Shortages are wearing down the front line fighters. The artillery imbalance is terrible. The majority of Ukraine artillery is Russian caliber ammo. Russian artillery. Supply is running out. Obviously Russia is not going to sell/donate to them. Western donations are too little. Even Ukraine official releases note this. A large imbalance of shells fired in artillery exchanges, that favor the Russians.
Manpower is also an issue. Neither side is giving solid numbers of casualties. Various outlets give wide ranging figures for each side. But there are verified facts that Ukraine keeps lowering the bar to conscripting man/woman power. The age limit keeps getting higher. That indicates a shortage.
Although it is mostly slow. Russia is gaining ground. Even the more Ukraine favorable maps show this.
There are large areas of the front line that are static for long periods. But the shelling continues. Again, supply favors Russia for this. Just more ammo. Both sides sometimes gain and then lose territory. Excepting the big withdrawal from Kyiv, Russia has slowly gained ground along the active fronts.
Russia is using it’s advantage in artillery and missiles to cause more losses than it suffers.
Russia has now come up against the highly fortified positions West of Donetsk city area. Ukraine is mostly using these fortifications well. There was a blip, when Ukraine moved some artillery to the south. This allowed Russian forces to press forward with less cost, due to less artillery fire from the Ukraine side. I am not sure if artillery has been redeployed successfully. But some Ukraine forces had to leave fortified positions.
It is a grinding war. In such a war, supply of material and people is the key. Ukraine is just at a disadvantage in this situation.
Something may change. But if not. It is a matter of time.
I did not feel the need. People disagree with my posts in a thread? Fine. It got out of hand there. But I felt no particular need to start another thread about it. I just stopped following folks into the weeds.
Thank you, Mr. Seal Lion.
Not getting that. Seal Lion?
Putin started an unprovoked war of aggression. Full stop.
Yeah you and others have mentioned that often.
But I am talking about the current reality on the ground.
The current reality on the ground is that Putin started an unprovoked war of aggression. He cannot win.
Because it is unprovoked, does not mean it will be lost or won.
Yeah. Hitter won for awhile. Until he didn’t.
Again, no replies with any facts. Just opinion.
Regarding artillery issues.
You seriously think it’s just an opinion that Hitler was winning World War II until he was no longer winning that war? You seriouly think it’s just an opinion that Hitler lost World War II? You seriously need to learn what the difference is between a fact an an opinion.
The fact of the matter is that the front lines have barely moved in months. This Russian superiority you’re touting is not being translated to anything beyond incremental gains. Meanwhile, their logistical situation in Kherson and the north bank of the Dnipro generally has become near untenable with the degradation of the bridge links over the river. It is quite likely that they’ll be forced to withdraw to south of the Dnipro, or worse, surrender the forces beyond the river if they can’t get and keep one or more of the bridges back in service. Which seems unlikely, since all three bridges in question are easily inside HIMARS range.
If victory is the war finishing with something approximating the current lines - possibly with some minor Russian gains in the east and Ukrainian gains in the south - that may yet happen. But Russia started this expecting to be occupying Kyiv within a week, so that would be shall we say a significant scaling back of expectations.
But, somehow, you feel the need to inflict your disinterest in a thread on this thread?
Indeed he does, even after promising not to:
Hey, Kedikat (or should I say, “котенок кошка”) I thought it was already clear that we wish you would fucking drop it. Are you capable of that? Just dropping the Russian propaganda? Just fucking drop it. Instead you continue to be the most prolific poster in this thread, and you even continue to make multiple consecutive posts because you’re too fucking stupid to figure out how to edit a post. I guess they don’t teach much about browser technology at Moscow Tech.
It means it is abhorrent to civilized people, and should be obviously condemned by anyone who is not a Putin apologist. Excuses about Putin being afraid of a NATO country on his border are transparently obvious bullshit to excuse a totalitarian dictator who is waging a war to capture territory for his own ego.
Russian artillery fires are fewer and fewer each day. It’s quite clear that Ukraine’s attacks on their ammo storage and logistics are having a significant impact. Russia’s not gaining territory and their artillery is becoming less and less effective, so it’s very hard to see how they could gain any type of victory based on current trends.
Above the post it is noted " 10 Days Later. "
I was out. So leave me out.
