In defence of Russia

Out of curiosity, in what country do you live?

No. But Qaddafi was starting to try and get Africa more together. He had a ton of faults. Did manage to get a lot less weird as time went by. But was still way weird.
But he was trying to do something that might have turned out good. Just starting to. No way at all to tell how it would have gone.

Ever hear the term, “Searching for a pony in a pile of horseshit”?

The way things are going all over the world. I hesitate to say that.
But I suppose you can surmise it with a modicum of effort.

Because Russia (and China) didn’t bother to vote against it.

Resolution 1973 was adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 17 March 2011 in response to the First Libyan Civil War. The Security Council resolution was proposed by France, Lebanon, and the United Kingdom.[1][2]

Ten Security Council members voted in the affirmative (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Gabon, Lebanon, Nigeria, Portugal, South Africa, and permanent members France, the United Kingdom, and the United States). Five (Brazil, Germany, and India, and permanent members China and Russia) abstained, with none opposed.[3]

The resolution formed the legal basis for military intervention in the Libyan Civil War, demanding “an immediate ceasefire” and authorizing the international community to establish a no-fly zone and to use all means necessary short of foreign occupation to protect civilians.

Note that only 4 of the 10 “yes” votes were from NATO countries (and 1 abstained). If the others had voted “no” (or had either Russia or China individually), then the Resolution would NOT have passed.

So, Russia then?

One might hope you realize that this steaming pile could equally be said of Hitler.

Look. Just because Putin is emulating Hitler in almost every detail, doesn’t mean you can Godwinise him!

That is so lame. But aside from a couple folks here, expected. Level up.
Consider the deeper concerns. Giving out personal information is asking for trouble just from internet users. Beyond that, several countries are now making it criminal offense to state personal opinions that go against the line taken by country’s government line.
I caution you. Do not reveal much, if any, personal information here or anywhere, online.

Like Putin’s Russia?

As Putin is wont to remind us lebensraum sounds better in the original German . . . and unlike жизненное пространство you can fucking pronounce it.

This is why this board needs a like button.

But the military action immediately went far beyond “No Fly”.
It was a big ground bombing campaign. Not in a logical way to gain even a ceasefire. It was an attack against one side. The government and military of sovereign Libya.
Sort of like Russia attacking sovereign Ukraine? In order to stop a civil war, Ukraine versus Donbass?
It isn’t that I think Russia is the good guy. There are not too many good guys when nations get bumping. Some country will do something this decade, then condemn another doing almost the same thing next decade.
There are basic sides due to styles and methods of governments. But they often get down to the least common denominator when it serves their interests.

Oh, well that makes Putin’s unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country OK then.

Fair and balanced. A la Fox

Finally. Thanks for seeing my point!
Just kidding. I won’t quote it of of context. But be more careful

It is always nice to know the Falun Gong’s take on a situation.

You do toss some curve balls. Falun Gong? Is that some guess about my country of origin? It is a few posts away from that question.

That is who puts out the Vision Times.
