I originally broke my leg, went to rehab. While there, incompetence led to a bedsore. Got so bad I went BACK to rehab. That place was fine for awhile, until they slacked on treatment, sending me BACK to hospital. I refuse to return to either place. Almost did return to 1st place, until I Googled, recognized address.
Social worker angry I care so much about my health.
If you are still in hospital, ask for the patient advocate. They should be able to address your concerns about where you are transferred. You can also talk to your physician.
Also, if a patient with a broken leg manages to get a bedsore – which is totally preventable – in rehab, that is an utterly incompetent facility. Tell your insurance company.
So, we know you don’t want to go to the hospital or to the rehab facility. Where DO you want to go? Do you have a different solution for your care that’s actually feasible? I have a suspicion that the SW is not mad that you “care about your health” but rather, finds you oppositional to the only choices you actually have.
For example “I want to go home and not be injured and not be disabled and also I want a pony” is not an option you get to choose.
So, a guy who has spent his life in a wheelchair tips himself over in said chair and breaks his leg in such a way that he doesn’t even realize it’s broken. Ends up in the hospital several days later, then eventually rehab. Not unconscious, not immobile, able to effect transfers to his chair himself. How exactly does this person get a bedsore that’s the staff’s fault? It’s not like they have to turn him or manipulate his body- he is fully capable of that, and indeed was thisclose to getting discharged.
Or maybe he locked himself in his room and refused to move out of his bed until he got a bedsore, and blamed it on the staff?
