From that sentence, please tell us all the race of the individual described.

I would guess that he/she is Hispanic because “wetback” is a well known slur used against Hispanics.

Its pretty easy to guess at the race of the person described, because again all these are well known slurs against a particular race. Even if my bank could theoretically be owned by an african american baptist who just happens to have a hooked nose and likes Matza.

For every usage I’ve evern heard in person, and every usage every Hispanic person that I’ve ever talked to about the slur, the individual would be Mexican and/or Hispanic. If nearly everyone (or even just a very large portion of them) who uses the term uses it as a slur against Mexican and Hispanic people, then the word is a slur against Mexican and Hispanic people, whatever your intentions. No different than any other racial/ethnic slur, many of which began as non-slur terms. Language evolves and changes, and usage defines definitions.

If that’s the case, how come I’ve never heard it used against any other race of illegal immigrants, than Mexican, or Latin Americans? Never against those from the Middle East, or Europe, Asia, or Canada? Hmm? :dubious:
Perhaps I am missing something. Could you please expand on this thought by laying out in detail how two posts that state right out that wetback is a racial slur and give arguments defending that position prove the exact opposite?

No, it isn’t. There is no indication of race in the term whatsoever. Is it derogatory? Sure, but it has to do with a person’s actions, not their race. In my example sentence above, the person swimming the river could have been white, black, brown, yellow or green with purple polka-dots. You cannot derive that from the word wetback.
Liberals constantly use “racist” as a buzzword to try to shut down discussions, and you don’t even have a clue what the friggin’ word means.
And FWIW, I have found that the one who starts yelling “racist” first…is the racist.

This isn’t accurate any more. It may have been accurate at the time of the election. I am willing to believe that people had a wide variety of reasons for voting for Trump, and that a sizable portion of them did not choose him due to their racist leanings in any way (secret or not). If they support him now, however, they are supporting racism, misogyny, and corruption (and whole bunch of other nastiness). I do not see a line between supporting a racist and being one in this case. Their continued support is inexcusable.
