In 'N Out Burger or Fatburger?

Fatburger. Hands down.

In N Out makes a good burger, but their fries leave much to be desired. Plus, you can’t sit inside and eat. You either eat outdoors or in the car or wait till you get home. Plus, they have no onion rings.

Yeah, that’s right. NO ONION RINGS!!!

That is why Fatburger is the superior chain.

I’ve never had Fatburger, but I will state that In N Out is awesome…
but only in LA. I’ve had their burgers elsewhere and they just aren’t as good. In LA, though, nothing beats In N Out.

Damn. They just closed! Too late to go get a double doubel animal style (the only way to eat a burger).

There’s at least one In-n-Out where you can sit inside, I’ve been to it. The line usually moves quicker when you get it drive thru, but since it’s right next to campus, a lot of people walk in.

One of my friends says he ate the 15 by 15 (that’s 15 patties). Says he finished about 2/3 of it at once, then finished it off later. I kept thinking about Homer and his sandwich. “How could I be mad at you?” Hehe… I actually saw him eat a 5 by 5 right there, so maybe he’s not pulling my leg, but I’ll take the whole story with a grain of salt.

Being a vegetarian I can’t really comment too much, but I usually ask for a Grilled Cheese (I guess it’s the same as Valley style) and get it Animal Style. Pretty tasty. I will say this about their fries: while not the best, I’m glad they cook them in 100% pure vegetable oil unlike McDonalds. Lying bastards with their sneaky beef juice flavoring.

Or perhaps:

“My that is a tasty burger.” -Samuel L. Jackson from Pulp Fiction

They’re two different entities. I hit In-'n-Out more because their hamburgers are generally less expensive - not “cheaper” (In-'n-Out is the #1 quality fast-food restaurant in California :D) - which means I can get two double-doubles for the price of one Fatburger burger. No, I don’t buy fries at In-'n-Out… I never buy fries anywhere, in fact.

BUT… when I have some extra cash to blow, I go to Fatburger to treat myself. Yup, Fatburger’s the “special place” you go when you’ve earned a self-reward. Now, what I do when I go to Fatburger is make sure that the experience will linger for at least a week… so this is what I do: I order a double Kingburger with added egg, bacon, and cheese, ultimately creating a massive, So-Unhealthy-It’d-Kill-Superman monster. You take one bite of that thing and it’s orgiastic bliss.

It’ll take you a month to completely digest, though, so it’s not exactly an everyday thing.

::drool:: I wish I had a bit of cash right now… anybody wanna buy one of my kidneys?

Oh god, In-'n-Out burgers are incredible. Every time I visit Thousand Oaks area I hit one. Never have found a Fatburger, but it does sound enticing.

I call that the Homer Simpson. MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm.

I like In-N-Out’s burgers the best, but I have this to say about Fatburger: the one in Santa Barbara has the very best soul/R&B jukebox I ever found. I don’t mind the long wait for one of their burgers, because I get to listen to Wilson Pickett, Sam ‘n’ Dave and James Brown in the interim.

Most of the newer In-n-Out branches have indoor seating. I know for a fact the Torrance, Redondo Beach, Westchester, and San Diego Sports Arena (next to the arena, not in it) all have indoor seating. In fact, the only one I’ve eaten outside at was the Canoga Park outlet.

As for the OP, um… uh… that’s like which of my kids do I like best!! They’re both great, but different in ways most previous posters have already covered. (And yes, In-n-Out’s fries become inedible after about 15 minutes, but when they’re fresh… MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM…fries…

My thoughts exactly. With one name I can picture people’s arteries hardening right in the burger place, and the other sounds like it ought to have a lot of customer bathrooms…and they’re real?! You all aren’t just playing a joke on us are you?

Nope elfkin477 they are real alright, the In-n–out already has a link in the thread and here is the fatburger one:

Oh BTW: I put another vote for the fat one.

In-N-Out’s fries are incredibly good. The best in the world. If you claim otherwise, then you are quite obviouly insane.

They changed the bumper stickers about 10 years ago specifically so you can’t do that to them anymore. The family that owns the business are christians, and they didn’t like what us brains-in-the-gutter teenagers were doing with their merchandise.

In N Out’s my favorite. Double Double and a pink lemonade.

Excellent burgers. Even Fast Food Nation had good things to say about the business.

Damn. Now I’m starving.

you people that say In N Out fries are bad are on some hardcore acid.
Big Spoiled Babies! the bunch 'a you!

they are the BEST. EVER!

yeah, yeah… you all mock the fries because you live so near and don’t realize what you have. just wait til you have the misfortune of moving far far away. We’ll see how good the fries are then!

babs,
sitting here miserably wishing for an In N Out to open in Texas.

Thousand Oaks, eh? Well, if you don’t mind a bit of a drive, you can head down the 101 East a ways and get off at Topanga… there’s a Fatburger in that shopping center on the corner of Topanga and Ventura.

Oh, I just had a Fatburger last night and I am fairly confident that Fatburger is better than In-n-Out, and if you think otherwise you are wrong.

(In-n-Out though is pretty g-d’ed good, though)

I once waited over half an hour in a Fatburger drive-thru and couldn’t escape because there was a cement thing with bushes to the right. Everybody in the line was honking the horns and the friggin’ workers didn’t do anything or even say anything when I got to the window. I bitched them out and didn’t even take the food (I’m weird like that). I don’t even go there any more just because of that one experience.

Their “Fat Fries” are good though (way better than In n Out) and their turkey burgers are great too. My one complaint was that their burgers were always runny because of the relish so it was a big ordeal. In n Out is fine for me.

Anybody in LA ever been to Hamburger Habit? That place is good too.

My vote In-n-Out all the way! I just recently discovered animal style and now I prefer that-but if I get a regular, so be it! They are both awsome burgers, just animal style is easier on the onion taste and you get mustard.
The Fries Suck. Totally. The only way I can eat them is drowned in hot sauce and salt.
Fat Burger is whatever-it’s good but I never say Fatburger when someone says “What do you want”?

In all fairness, I never tried the Fatburger, but love In 'N Out burgers. Newer ones have indoor booths. I thought the fries were good, too.

That’s what you get for making me drool on my desk when I’m stuck at college, with no access to any good burger places.
