In praise of Dopers who don't normally get praised
Swampbear and FairyChatMom are A-listers. Nanner nanner boo boo.
I’m A-List? How you do flatter sir!

I ain’t listin’ folks cause there’s just too many. All the MMP regulars and irregulars for sure. Plus a host of others.

I had to pop back in here to mention a couple of others:

samclem (another A-lister, though), and . . .

Tammi Terrell – she’s the bees’ knees when it comes to thoughtful and informative posts.

Gotta put in another vote for RiverRunner, too. That guy’s great.

RR

Oh, thank you wevets. Now I’ve another reason to like you besides your name reversed being significant to me!

Ravenman is an eminently sane poster in GD. Lemur866, RickJay, Little Nemo and John Mace are as well.

Sam Stone presents the libertarian/conservative POV very well. Better than many professional pundits, in fact. I don’t always agree with him, but he makes me think.

Mr. Moto presents the more traditional conservative view with a lot of class, despite being badly outnumbered on this board.

Vinyl Turnip is now the funniest poster on the board, passing Bryan Ekers. Sorry, Bryan.

Omphaloskeptic knows a hell of a lot of math.

ETA: I like doing the feuds, and appreciate Dolores Reborn’s running them.

I like Hal Briston. No particular reason he just seems like a down to earth, honest and cool guy. Ok, so there’s a couple of reasons.

YES! In your face, Ekers!

Zeldar! When come back, bring Zeldar!
My person would be Auntie Pam, I always look foward to hearing from her in the Dexter, Sopranos and Breaking Bad threads.
Thanks, and back at’cha! We have good taste, don’t we? And a love for criminal behavior, it seems.

Lately I’ve been noticing and appreciating SigmaGirl and GuloGulo (especially in the book threads), and 3acresandatruck (who doesn’t talk a lot but is very well spoken), in addition to regulars in the book threads – Delphica, koeeoaddi, twickster, dungbeetle – and rubystreak, who I’d like to have at my back in a fight.

Dopers I’d watch *American Idol * with:
twickster
Biggirl
rockle

Dopers I’d love a play date with (our kids, not the naughty adult kind of play date):
WhyNot
ElzaB
Hal Briston

I know there are more in both categories, but those are the first that come to mind.
Oooh! Me! Me!
Splendid! Will you be eating them here or shall I wrap them to go?

FinnAgain, especially after he gets revved up about something.

Regards,
Shodan

Well, thank you, Auntie Pam! You’re my book buddy, too!

twickster, Auntie Pam, Siege, ivylass, Cervaise, Anaamika

For now.

phouka
Lil’Pluck
MissMossie
anu-la

In no particular order.

I’m back–

Call outs to **Anaamika ** and Heffalump and Roo, both who seem really nice and I think we’d all have fun together!

VunderBob- who deserves his name… (vunderful–right!)

Anyrose who was the first person to talk to me on the dope and was very nice to me!

All the MMPers (Haze, Noone Special, Most Original User Name Ever, Lissa Lisslar etc etc) who were very welcoming to a newbie…

Moment Slayer (my husband) who finally had to join to figure out what the hell I was laughing about all the time…

and Olivesmarch4th who makes the effort to write thoughtful posts that contribute so much. I might lurk a lot and think nice thoughts that I could make into posts, but she makes the effort to put down her thoughts so that they help other people.

… and mannny more…

If you like kick-ass rock and roll you should check out An Arky’s band, Yell County.. I saw them live a couple of weeks ago. Excellent show.

Awww, wevets! You’re sweet…

I don’t know about beer drinking, but I can vouch for both Hockey Monkey and Santo Rugger as being fabulous partners for margarita-drinking and steak-eating. And they are also both quite gracious at being stood up due to illness.

Hal Briston definitely deserves the award for “Most notable and enduring ability to turn the other cheek and take the high road” with respect to a certain running inside joke. It is almost enough to inspire me to stop adding to the running joke…almost…

And just to prove that I’m not only able to heap praise upon Mafia players…

Least Original User Name Ever is a blast to play Halo3 with, and always a fun read here.

elucidator is constantly making me giggle in a snarky and vicarious manner.

I also have to pile onto the olivesmarch4th appreciation wagon. She is always a treat to read wherever I come across her posts.

There are loads more. I suck at these sort of things.
A nod out there to all the other musician dopers that I’ve enjoyed running into/chatting with:

wordman
gorillaman
birdmonster
an arky
ministre de l’aula (or something like that)
figaro

I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple.

Also, other Wisco Dopers:

Harmonious Discord
Otto
Boyo Jim
Barrels
Scarlett67
Rascal’s Mom
Why, thank you, Picker. I know I operate waaaaaaaay under the radar, so I am flattered.

::blushes::

Thanks, Larry…thanks to picker and fisha for giving me a shout out…I thought I was relatively anonymous!

I agree with a lot of who’s been mentioned so far; I’m a love-everybody kind of guy, mostly, and I think everybody adds something I can enjoy…I definitely get more out than I put in here. Thanks everybody! ::smooches::
Tell me about a Doper that you just sorta like.

For me, that person is Glee. He lives in the UK and I think he’s about 10+ years older than me, but I kinda wish we were buddies. He likes chess. He likes games. He seems highly educated. He drops funny comments from time to time. To wit: After being reminded (gently) that Sid Meier’s new game Colonization was spelled with a Z instead of an s, Glee responded: “I understand - this sort of thing is why the coloniez revolted…” Now that isn’t a real gutbuster, but golly, that made me smile. And I realized that whenever I read one of Glee’s comments, I almost invariably smile. Or nod my head. Or realize that my ignorance has been fought.
Woohoo! That made my day.

Allow me to mention a variant:

although I’ve rarely seen Kurilla’s posts, she is a super person in real life and I thank her, her hubby and DMark for their generous hospitality.
