In SF 3/30 - 4/3. Any Bay Area folks up for a mini-Dopefest?

I’m still in for one of the evenings. Mornings are not my friends and I live far out enough it’s tough for me to get into town by lunch.

Thursday night! I’m down!

I live in Oakland, and I work til late on friday.

The Mexican restaurant sounds good; or anyplace accessible by BART and/or my bike.

I’ve been waiting for an opportunity.

Thursday evening is OK by me, but Friday evening would be better yet.

Thursday works.

OK, ideally we’d get a time and a day that is perfect for everyone, but it seems that we can get at least some people together on Thursday night. It’s not the perfect night for a couple of people (Miller; DLuxN8R-13), but they have expressed a willingness to come on that night, and there’s at least one person who can’t do Friday at all.

In the absence of other suggestions, i’m going to propose the following, and if anyone wants to suggest alternatives, that is fine too.

Dinner at Los Jarritos, at the corner of 20th and South Van Ness, at 7:30 p.m on Thursday.

Los Jarritos is a cheerful, pretty cheap Mexican place. It’s not quite as cheap as the ubiquitous taquerias of the Mission, but it is a sit-down place with table service. I’ve been a few times, and the food’s always been fine, and the service friendly. I’m a vegetarian, so i haven’t tried the meat dishes. You can read some customer reviews at Yelp.

If anyone’s interested in meeting a bit earlier and getting a drink or two before dinner, i’d be into that. One possibility is Dalva, a dark, sort-of-divey place on 16th between Valencia and Guerrero (so, about a 10-minute walk from the restaurant). Not being a local, i’m no expert on the area’s bars, so if someone has a better suggestion (or somewhere even closer to the restaurant) that would be great.

The main reason i suggested the Mission is that we can get reasonably priced food and drink, and it’s pretty easy to get to by BART or Muni. I’m happy, though, if people decide that somewhere else is preferable. I just think we should settle on something soon, as Thursday is only two days away.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Probably won’t be able to make it (as usual), but wishing everyone a fun time.

Dalva’s perfectly fine, but there’re TONS of options in the immediate area of you’re looking for something in particular.

Yeah, i just picked that because it’s somewhere i’ve actually been. I’m happy to meet somewhere closer.

Eva Luna just gave me a poke on this, but as usual with such happenings my work schedule interferes ( I work 2-10, as in right this moment  ). Sorry I didn’t see this thread on Monday, but I doubt you would have felt that social the night you got in.

If by some miracle I can swing tomorrow ( or part of tomorrow ) off, I’ll try to wander by. But at this point, probably not gonna happen. A tragedy, I’m sure - but I expect all to soldier on bravely without me ;).

So we got five for dinner tomorrow night, unless I’m missing someone. How many for drinks beforehand?

Not sure if I can make Thursday night, I’ll be a last-minute addition if I can.

Yeah, could we just get a quick show of hands if you’re coming for drinks and/or dinner? I don’t think we need to book a table, but it would be nice to know how many definites we have.

Definitly in for dinner, probably drinks as well.

I’ll be there for dinner; drinks might be a bit of a stretch. But I could possibly do a beer or two also.

Looking forward to it!

Mmk. Dinner @ Los Jarritos @ 7:30 it is.

Dalva at… 6? 6:30? It’s a block and a half from 16th St BART. (I’m also thinking Monk’s Kettle, across the street, but getting more than three people in there would be a pain.)

I’ll arrive at Dalva around 6, so i’ll be there when others arrive. I figure we can leave for the restaurant at about 7:15 or 7:20.

For purposes of identification:

I’m about 6’ tall, with long dark hair tied back in a ponytail. I’ll be wearing blue jeans and a black and white long-sleeved shirt.

See you this evening.

I can be there at 6, too… I’m a 15 minute walk from there. I’ll be in glasses and an SF Giants hat. Maybe I’ll bring my SD book too, to avoid those awkward “Hey, are you meeting Cecil” moments.

I’ll be in steeltoes, with long black hair, but by the time I get there it oughta be easy to spot you all!

In a bizarre and cruel irony my husband is toting me to the Giants game and I won’t be able to join you. I’ll bump the thread up on my way out the door for you and try to catch the next one. Have a good time!

I’ll be the guy in the Carl Jung t-shirt.
