I moved to San Francisco last October and am interested in meeting other Straight Dope readers/enthusiasts or just people in general. I looked on the Dopefest calendar but didn’t see anything coming up in this area, so I thought it would be worthwhile to get something together. Maybe a small meeting at a coffee shop or a barbecue if the weather’s right.

While we’re at it, maybe we could petition the East Bay Express to bring back Cecil’s column - having Dan Savage in both the SF Weekly and the Express is a little much.

Plenty of Bay Area Dopers (aka BADs). There was something a little while ago but i was busy. Maybe we can do something new.
I’m in the Bay Area, and would be keen on meeting more BAD people.
Nice to meet you guys. Hopefully, we can get enough responses to start organzizing a get together for the end of this month/beginning of the next. Is there some resource I’m missing for a listing of Dopers and where they are from? Something more extensive with fewer broken photos than http://www.teemingmillions.com ?

Yup, BAD reporting, but I’m a bit far south to go party up in the City. Y’all have a good time and maybe sometime there’ll be a Silicon Valley Dope get-together.

I’m near downtown San Rafael, and San Francisco is just plain dull, s’always cloudy and cold. (although it did rain today…)
Anyways, what’s up with meeting in the gloom of SF?
I live in Silicon Valley and work two days a week in SF, so I could do either.
By the way, everyone should check out menudomucho’s web site… it’s quite cool, if vaguly incomprehensible and frightening.
Looks like people would be most likely to get together on the weekend. Want to tentatively arrange for the last Saturday of this month, the 27th? I’m open to anything, though I live by the beach so I was thinking it would be fun to have a cook out on the grills. Though as Ryle Dup pointed out, the weather can be a little unpredictable in the city, especially on the ocean side. Are there any local places that could accommodate us?
I should probably keep an eye on this thread. The sheer number of new faces is intriguing.
