I can just see my girlfriend now…
“you want to go meet who?!?”
(She’s knows about this place, even registered, but never posted. I’ve tried to hook her on this and failed somehow. )
Sounds like it would be fun though…hmm.

Ehhhh…I keep telling myself I should participate in one of these things, one of these days. It’s not like I’m shy about meeting internet folks - at least the bare majority of people I hang out with in RL these days I first met via the internet ( not here, though ).
But I’m moving this month ( Alameda to El Cerrito, nothing major ) and my work schedule remains as uncompromisingly antisocial as always ( that might change in January, though ), so mark me down as a firm maybe.
Yeah, I’m sick of the rest of you clowns. (KIDDING!)
I vote for someplace somewhat near BART and that has a variety of foods for those of us with less refined tastes. Liquor is a plus but the venue should be kept all-ages in case any attendees might be < 21. No one likes the places I pick so I’ll let you choose, but I think everyone had a fairly good time at Max’s a year or so ago. They didn’t seem fazed by the large group and it’s both near public transit and parking. I’m not dead set on SF (being from the south/east bay myself) but it just seems like the most central meeting place. There are places in other parts of the Bay that are probably fairly easy to get to if we seem to slant to one area or another.
No, I think they had some other acronym-asses, handle.
I think it stood for LA Region Dopers.
What is Max’s, and where?
I’m from San Jose, though go to San Francisco often on weekends for various events (concerts, film festivals, etc).
By a coincedence, I will be in San Francisco on Friday, to see an animation festival at the Castro theater. I’m also gonna be there on Saturday to see a Three Doors down concert. Unfortunately I’ll have many friends along, and don’t know how crazy they’d be about making a detour.
But as for the last weekend of the month, that might be feasable for me, if it were later in the day (I have work until 2). Now, if you were to want to arrange something a little farther in advance, I’d be much more likely to be able to go. I would enjoy going to a BADfest, since I’m so fond of visiting the boards and getting to know various posters.
It’s a somewhat upscale diner (part of the Max’s chain which includes Max’s Opera Plaza) downtown near the Metreon and the MOMA. http://www.maxsworld.com/maps/10.html
Their page of restaurant listings lists several in other parts of the Bay Area, but I’m not sure of the size, menus or how easy it is to get to them. http://www.maxsworld.com/restaurants.html (I also don’t know how accurate it is. I know for a fact the Diamond Grill by the ballpark has been closed for nearly a year, which is a shame because it was really nice!)
Somebody at worked mentioned the lobby of San Francisco W Hotel ( http://www.starwood.com/whotels/search/restaurants_lounges.html?propertyID=1153 ). It seems to have a bar and a couched seating area, though parking may be expensive for people driving due to it being downtown. Max’s sounds cool though I wish they had some pictures on their site.
Well, since the EBE was bought out by the same publisher that distributes the SFW, I don’t think that’s going to happen.
I should throw my obligatory hat in, although I have a history of never being able to make such functions. Still, I’ll say what I always do: Have Fun, Everyone!
I never make it either, but I’m doing my part to keep it active. I’ll watch and let you know nearer the date.
Yeah, don’t you hate those little bastards?
I think I’m gonna be in Santa Cruz this weekend, but I don’t know when I’m leaving, so who knows?
Ryle Dup, don’t make me burning your dog.
And come to think of it my friend’s band is playing Friday night, if anyone’s interested.
The only date that’s out for me is the 20[sup]th[/sup] of this month. My friends are being married at Ardenwood park and missing the event is not an option.
I still say dim sum. Cheap, extremely edible and a noisy environment to cover up our fistfights. Hard to beat that.
Any dim sum place in mind, Zenster?
<b>Demo</b> and I are up in Santa Rosa, and are usually in for a BADfest.
We’ve got a pretty busy month ahead weekend wise, but I’ll definitely keep an eye on the thread. And I’ll toss my vote in for this Saturday.
Max’s worked nicely, but Dim Sum sounds great too.
There’s a great one in Cupertino.
Ay, dios mio! Zenster! I’m leaving town this weekend. Can we please try another date?
Sorry. I plan on being busy puking at the thought of it.
sheesh. So why bother posting? Just dont show.

There’s an apostrophe in “don’t”.
