In This Thread We Point out the Gaps in Cracked's Movie Knowledge

I caught Iron Man on TV this weekend and it reminded of a recent Cracked article I’d read, 5 Marvel Characters Who Totally Dropped the Ball, specifically the section titled “Obadiah Stane’s Plan Makes No Sense.”

According to Cracked, after Pepper steals Stane’s plans for the Iron Monger suit, he lets her leave without using the handy paralyzer device he had on him. Instead, he decides to go on a non-sensical rampage and kill Tony. But that’s not what actually happens.

In the actual movie, Stane doesn’t know Pepper stole the plans until she’s halfway out the building. By the time he catches up with her, she’s met up with half-a-dozen SHIELD agents in the building’s main lobby. So the paralyzer is off the table. As is Stark Industries security (another Cracked suggestion) since Pepper is Tony’s personal assistant and she’s constantly doing things for him in the building. This is what causes Stane to go on a rampage, he’s been caught and would rather try to fight it out than go to jail.

That… well that makes perfect sense.

So what other gaps in movie knowledge does Cracked have? I know there are a lot more.

Same article, where they claim that the Iron Man suits don’t have any security, because Rhodey stole one in Iron Man 2. Two huge objections - Rhodes is Tony’s best friend, who he asked to work with him on developing the suit in the first movie. It’s completely plausible that Tony added Rhodes to the authorized user list sometime between the two movies.

And secondly - a few scenes later in the movie Nick Fury points out the same issue - that Tony should easily have been able to prevent Rhodes from stealing the suit, but didn’t. Because at that point in the movie, Tony was convinced he was going to die very shortly, and he wanted the government to get the suit technology, so he let Rhodes have the suit.
