In this TV show, you can bet most peoples' favorite character is probably....

We’re 4 episodes away from finishing our re-watch of the series. Ted Baxter is terrible. The misogyny and sexual harassment ruins some episodes. (Ted Knight was a very fine actor.) Definitely our least favorite regular.

Without question our favorite character is Lou Grant. Asner just puts so much little stuff into it it’s amazing. The combo of gruffness and kindness plays very well. Makes the others look fairly one-dimensional.

The Simpsons would be hard to say… It’s a tossup between Homer and Bart.

CHiPs: definitely Ponch

Star Trek: Voyager: Seven of Nine.

The Walking Dead: Daryl (possible Carol)

Lou Grant would have been my pick, too.

On “The Honeymooners,” it has to be Norton.

What, compared to Jim Ignatowski? C’mon.

What!? RHODA! All the way!

For DS9 there is also Odo or Garak

Brian

No way, Bart was only the most popular character in the earliest couple of seasons. The show hooked onto him as a bad kid, but as Homer dumbed down and became the current character, his popularity overtook Bart by a ton and he has been the most popular character for over 20 years. 25 years, more or less.

Odo? Ugh, my wife and I hate Odo and all Odo-related storylines. OK, hate is a bit strong, but he is not a popular character in our house. Is he really popular elsewhere? I don’t blame the actor, but that character was just not interesting enough.

Garak? Yeah, that is probably it. Love Garak.

Sue Ann Nivens - That little sexpot.

Arrested Development: Gob? I love everyone on that show, but Gob is a huge breakthrough and a career maker for Will Arnett. It’s the classic character on the show, like Kramer on Seinfeld.

Battlestar Galactica: Gaius? I listed him recently as a character I hated, but then loved. He was my far and away favorite by the end. If not Gaius, who? Bill Adama is pure awesome. I do love Saul Tigh, too.

I was a fan of Leverage from day one, and from what I remember of the TWOP thread, a lot of people hated Parker at first. They thought she was way too over the top. It took a good half season for them to warm up to her.

Frasier: Niles Crane
The Carol Burnett Show: Tim Conway
The Gary Moore Show: Carol Burnett
The Andy Griffith Show: Barney Fife
Bonanza: Eric “Hoss” Cartwright
The Shari Lewis Show: Lamb Chop (mmm, with mint sauce…)
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis: Maynard G. Krebs
Captain Kangaroo: Mr. Moose (although I preferred strong, silent, Clint Eastwood-ish Bunny Rabbit and Dancing Bear—that cat could cut a rug like Michael Jackson)
77 Sunset Strip: Kookie
The Real McCoys: Grandpa Amos McCoy
I Love Lucy: Ricky Ricardo
Your Show of Shows: Howard Morris

For me it was Hardison hands down, with Elliot a close second.

Taxi: Jim
Bob Newhart: Mr. Carlin
Newhart: Larry, Darryl, & Darryl
Cheers: Woody & Coach
King of Queens: Athur
Will & Grace: Karen

MST3K; the Holy Wars of Joel vs Mike will rage until the end of time (or at least until Mike blows up the Earth with a baking soda bomb…), I liked both, but leant more towards Mike’s cynicism and ascerbic wit, Joel was too laid back and stoner-ry for me, and yes I know, MST3K wouldn’t be around if not for Joel and I appreciate him for that, but I preferred the drier wit of Mike

Crow vs. Tom? Crow
Dr. F. Vs Pearl? Dr. F.
Tv’s Frank Vs. Bobo Vs. Brain Guy (observer)? Gotta give it to Brain Guy, even with his tactical weakness …

Huh. Are you me?

I’d have given a vote for Buster or Lucille - but Gob is a great character as well.

Adama, I’d think. Gaius was an interesting character, but hard to like.

For me it was Kimberly, the Pink Ranger.

Amy Jo Johnson was my first crush ever (I was like, seven).
This question reminds me of the “which three characters are you” that was going around facebook a couple of months ago.

Oh wow, you’re Leslie Knope and Tyrion from Game of Thrones? How shocking…

For me, Leverage is Nate Ford. He holds that group together, and Timothy Hutton is fantastic in the role.

And Wil Wheaton as Chaos
