In what ridiculous way are you spoiled?

I’m spoiled in many ways.
We put a second washer and dryer in our “master suite,” so doing laundry is really just getting undressed and using the washer as a hamper.

The main set is downstairs for big jobs and kids when they’re visiting. Not having to go up and down stairs is a small, but welcome treat.

Yay, I’m helping!

I turn my lights off just with words, which is especially nice with the bedroom light and the bathroom light. Most days I lie in the bath for at least half an hour, more like an hour, in low light, sometimes watching a film on a tablet on my bath table.

The road I live on, in inner London, easy walking distance to the financial district, is a ridiculously quiet pre-Victorian street with large private gardens. But because it’s social housing, my rent is very low, and my tenancy is permanent and can be passed on to my daughter.

My home office is THE tiniest space imaginable - a 65cm*80cm nook for the desk by the back door with my office chair blocking half the door. But it’s separate to any other room, which really helps when working from home, which I have done most of the time for ten years.

I have a beautiful, sexy, clever, thoughtful GF, who can cook, chat about deep stuff, and laugh like mad with me about utterly stupid things that would make no sense to anyone else. We have exactly the same somewhat unusual relationship goals, and we are in a position where they’re not only attainable but easy (most of the time).

We’re coming up to our first anniversary - yes, I met this remarkable woman during covid, but because we live walking distance to each other, and she lives alone, we were able to stay at each other’s houses regularly even during lockdown (totally legally).

There are lots of things about my life that are objectively terrible too, but overall I feel very lucky right now.

With the exception of one four-year posting, I have been able to bike, bus, or walk to work for my entire 37 year working life. Though I’ve been WFH the last 17 months I can walk there in 50 minutes.

And, pre-covid and now, my company has been very flexible and pragmatic about almost everything.

I have three laptops on my desk. During the day, I do gaming on the main laptop, browse the SDMB / other websites on a secondary laptop during the loading screens of my games, and do my work on the company-issued laptop (but only when I absolutely have to).

Because I’m not married to her!

Some would consider my job to be a dream job. My immediate supervisor is 15 miles away, and I rarely talk with him. It’s an R&D facility and is fairly low stress. Funding isn’t a problem. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere. No dress code. And I’m paid well and have good benefits.

I sleep like that. Imma check this out! Thank you.

A very flexible, non-stressful job. I pretty much come and go as I please. I’m salary so, if I leave early, I’m still paid for the full day. And I have the office to myself. No one here to bother me. It’s kind of like having a secret apartment away from home.

Over the years, I’ve gravitated towards progressively darker beers. Now, I’m so fussy that I’ll choose a glass of cold water over a free beer that isn’t a Porter or a stout. I’ll even turn down the milder, ‘beginner’ stouts (I’m looking at you, Guinness).

I’ve spent the last few weeks helping (fully vaxxed) relatives in distant towns. I’ve been reflecting on how spoiled I am, traveling in my RV. It’s like having a mini-house with me on the road – and when I arrive there’s no unpacking or checking in*, everything’s in the closets and I just park and hook up. If I want to use the restroom, fix a meal, or even take a shower enroute, all I need to do is stop somewhere and indulge myself. Also, as sometimes happens with age, it’s best if I maintain tight control over my menu, and having my own kitchen along makes this a breeze. I eat exactly the same as at home.

And I can do it all with zero human contact. It’s amazing how spoiled I’ve become by this.

*RV parks now allow pre-checkins via phone, the only time I see an employee is when they pick up my trash.

I have a horse, and I live where I can saddle up and ride straight into the state forest.

Do you, by any chance remember the name of the pillow. I’ve just been on their site, lots of pillows, looking by price isn’t the best, I’m thinking!

Thanks!

Had to go drag it from its protective encasements, but looks to be a Bergven! Soooooo comfy. I felt like a crazyperson spending that much on a pillow but a year later I’m still congratulating myself on my perspicacity.

I’ve got another option for you. I swear by these Double Down Around from Pacific Coast.

I’m married to a massage therapist.

Then she must be two-timing the both of us. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have almost all of the systems Nintendo’s come out with. Let’s just say I have the means to play all their games aside from the Virtual Boy Library. I feel lucky I was born when I was, and got to experience video games when I did, let alone all the cash my parents and I’ve shelled out for the hobby.

Well I appreciate your efforts, very much! Don’t beat yourself up about the price, yes, it’s a lot, but good sleep is so life impacting I’m saying def worth it! Thanks!

Thanks for another suggestion, I’ll def check it out!
