If you see Jin’s artwork in the flesh, it’s way, way better than on a computer screen. I’ve got a couple of originals and, yes, I’m boasting.
Nah, he’s very technically proficient, he’s just a con man that likes pastels. If you look at some of his artwork pre-TLC,Inc or whatever the flaming blue hootie his company is called, it’s actually pretty good without all the kitchsy stuff. There are a lot of fairly detailed articles linked off my page about his crummy business practices and how he markets himself (the real reason I don’t like him), people just don’t bother to even look at them (or even notice my page is a joke to begin with) before sticking their thumb up their arse and sending me hate mail.
It’s alright, it gives me something to laugh at. I gotta wonder about those people though. Why to go to all that trouble to just sling personal insults? They can’t even make a good point. Half of them refer to me as a man. You’d think with all them Bible verses he slaps on everything, Mr. Stinkade’s little groupies would be more into, oh, turning the other cheek. Such vulgarity is unbecoming. 
I was under the impression that he pretty much sits in his gold-plated silo on top of his uncounted millions these days and runs an assembly line of art students who dab a bit of purple here and a smear a streak of yellow there in exactly the same spots on every canvas so people can buy his “originals” at those miserable “Gallery of Light” pigment brothels in the malls.
Is that right?
Oh, and uh, yeah. jinwicked is very talented. The site design is good too. 
(Aside: for some unknown reason, when she started posting here, I found her irritating. I have no idea why now. Might have been some slight thing she said, or I may have been utterly irrational. I do that sometimes. Anyway, I may have spoken shortly or rudely to her at one time or another. I have that distinct impression. In my continuing effort not to be such a damn ogre, allow me to hazily apologize. Sorry, jinwicked.)
He paints something like a dozen originals a year, last I heard, and refuses to sell them, because he makes more off his prints and other stuff. I think he will sell them for some insane amount like $1mil each, but don’t quote me on that as I read it a long time ago.
I’ve worked off and on as a custom framer for going on seven years. I have no beef with the guy making bajillions off selling prints. But he sells prints mounted on canvas with an autopen-type signature and some paint slopped on by an official “painter of light” in the thousands as “limited editions” (10,000 does not a legitimate L.E. make) and wants (and gets) $2500 a pop for them. That’s just capitalism in action, I suppose, but the way he markets these things as collectables and investments is deplorable IMO. I saw too many people who plunked down a ton of money on those things thinking they’d resell them ten or twenty years from now and make a small fortune, and the fact is that he’s flooded the market so much that they’re already losing value. A bunch of his TLC gallery owners sued him for undercutting them hawking the same stuff on QVC. (cite: http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,525037504,00.html) Caveat emptor, and all that, but just because you can rip someone off doesn’t mean you should. At least in my world.
I’ve also been contacted by a few people who’ve worked at various levels of his company that have asserted he isn’t the God-fearing family man he projects himself as, which basically just affirms my belief that he slaps all that Bible verse on there to make a fast buck. I’m not religious, but manipulating people like that bothers me.
No worries. I have an awful memory for things like that. I have to go actively out of my way to hold a grudge.
I’ve never hear of this Kinkade asshole, methinks I’m lucky.
Even luckier if you’ve managed to not see one of his “artworks.”
