In which I compliment jinwicked's cartoonery talent and wicked good looks.

My attention was drawn to Crap I Drew On My Lunch Break by this post. I have been reading more of the comics, and am stunned not only by jinwicked’s talent but also by her attractiveness, because before five minutes ago I had no idea that she was an artist or a she. Anyway, didn’t want to hijack that thread, but I wanted to show my appreciation.

Gasp! That “webcam pic” HAD to be posed!

Nice stuff you got there, though. Have to admit, I thought you were a he as well. hm.

sulks about lousy candid shots and hair that won’t sit right and other mumble mumble

I’ve been reading jinwicked’s cartoons for a while now. I think I came across a link to the website just before jin went on a hiatus from the boards (good opportunity to say it’s great to see you back on the boards again!) but I don’t remember if the cartoons were also up on the site at that time.

I’ve been so impressed with her work that I’ve just recently ordered a couple of the ‘Crap I Drew on My Lunch Break’ original cartoons. I have to admit that both cartoons just ‘caught’ me when I saw them, very funny and very well drawn.

Keep up the great work jin!

Now…how long before we see these cartoons appearing in syndication?

She’s a really good artist. I think her inkwork is excellent. Working in pen and ink isn’t easy, believe me. She’s really good at it. She makes it look simple. She’s got a nice polished ink style. Excellent.

Her cartoons are great. The humor, the expressions of the characters. She’s really good.

I think I recall her alluding on another thread to some people crapping on her efforts (somewhere else, not here). Total bullshit, of course. Complete bullshit. I don’t know how some people can be so full of shit. Because it’s quite obvious that she’s really outstanding. You’d have to have a “tin eye” to not see that.

I also think her site is great, and her book looks pretty cool too. I may have to pick up a copy!

I bought her book of cartoons.

You should, too.

I’m also trying very hard not to have a silly crush on her. :o

I started reading her comics a while back, before she left temporarily, but I never actually saw a picture of her until recently. I was surprised to see that she actually does look like her comic-ego. Plus, she has the most ridiculously cool username… I get jealous of it everytime I see it. It’s really not very fair to the rest of us.

If you like it all that much why don’t you buy some?

I went to her site last week also & noticed indeed that Cartoon Jinwicked is as hot a Actual Jinwicked.

Well, not AS hot- I mean- CJW is just a cartoon!

If you figure that one out, let me know.

Thank you, I appreciate the comments… let me know how you like the book if you haven’t gotten it yet. I’m working on #2 right now and it’s going to have a foreward written by another comic artist friend of mine. It’s still very much in the formative stage right now – about to start the writing part – so suggestions are always welcome. I have already started the cover art though.

If anyone lives near Dallas, I may be hanging out this June with some other friends of mine (that will have tables) at A-Kon if I get up the scratch for a hotel room and weekend passes. Everything is still kind of up in the air, as I didn’t want to attempt dragging a bunch of stuff up there to sell and buying a booth, but I do want to be around to do con sketches or what for people that want them.

And I’m really pretty average looking, I just know a lot of good photographers. Now that someone’s loaned me a better cam for awhile, I can actually show the comics being worked on in real time (which I why I put a cam on there at all.)

To actually explain it a little better, I used to keep personal stuff in my jinwicked lj, but I don’t anymore because of some people that were harassing me and yeah, belittling my efforts to turn this into a full-time occupation. But it was part of a long-standing fued between some ex-friends of the bf, who basically just had a stake in making me feel bad or hurting me for “taking him away” or some bullshit. I just ended my public journal because I got sick of dealing with it. They weren’t just calling names, they actually made threats on a couple of occasions and were going through and writing things in their own ljs just trying to provoke me. It was stupid and I just wanted to put an end to it.

The only real problem I’ve had with strangers is people giving me very specific advice based on very little knowledge of situations, but that doesn’t bother me so much as it just gets old after awhile. I do get lots of emails telling me how I’m a shitty person and deserve to rot and die for making fun of Thomas Kinkade.

And I found out recently that I apparently have the body proportion of a midget, but I think midgets are kinda cute so it’s all good.

I would buy a book, but I can’t afford that much right now. However, since I do feel a little odd about reading without putting in anything, I wanted to donate. How hard is it to donate a little bit through PayPal? I think I have a PayPal account, but I’m pretty sure that the bank accounts and such are all defunct. Do I have to have a bank account setup through it, or can I use a credit card?

Thank you, and I think you can use a CC without actually having an account now, but I’m not 100% sure. I have to go script the next two comics now.

Well, I guess you can pay without having a bank account by just using a CC. Anyway, it’s not much, but I do appreciate having something entertaining and well-done to read. Oh, and it was sent with the comment, “Why not?” because I didn’t feel like coming up with anything witty, and I wasn’t smart enough to actually put my board name on there.

I found her website (this was before the cartoons/comic strips) while surfing one day. Loved the art, bookmarked the site. Sometime later, I joined the SDMB and then realized she posted here! (Welcome back, btw.) That was an odd, surreal moment.

Well thank you very much.

I can be quite surreal. :dubious: One one site I used to post on a few years ago, there was a group of people who honestly believed I don’t really exist, and that I was just an imaginary person concocted by a clever troll. I’m not sure why they thought someone would go to all that trouble, but I used to have a real problem with people pretending to be me on IRC too (I never use IRC). I had a few people impersonating me on message boards for awhile, but fortunately they got bored of it. (Talk about surreal… I actually had someone cosplaying my character from the comic, which is basically them dressing up to be “me.” Kind of a head trip the first time it happens.) I’m the real me though…

Join the club. And FriarTed, I also have a little thing for Cartoon Jin.

Oh good, I thought I was off the filter or something.

Hey Jin how did you put the “crap” icon in the web address textbox?

No filter, I don’t like using them in a “public” journal, and if you look at the calender you could see how many posts I’ve made anyway, if they’re filtered or not. My private name is piecemeal_angel, I do post in a lot of communities under it. I don’t really make a big deal of hiding it’s me, but I don’t really advertise it either. I’m kind of wary about who I add to it, though, because it is a wee bit more personal than the old one. Not much, but I do talk about some family stuff there. I don’t make any public entries at all though, so there’s not a lot of point in adding it.

I made an .ico file in an icon-maker-program (sorry I don’t remember which one, this was some time ago), then included the code for it in the header of the HTML/PHP file. View the source up there and it should be right around where it calls my .css file. If you go to Asylum on 5th Street, there’s a little cartoon Jin icon, and my homepage/LJ has a top hat that I made. Making the icon is the tricky part; other than that it’s just a simple little line of HTML. Easy peasy.

Sweet, thanks.
