In which Mermaid dances with tears in her eyes.

:Doing the happy dance 'cause my computer is back up, running and as pure and innocent as a baby bunnie nibbling on clover in the field:

Yes that’s right, I finally got my computer back up, online and with a clean slate after contracting the Love letter virus. It basically destroyed my entire file system, about 20 gigs total.

As far as I can tell, my Norton antivirus was accidently disabled and by the time I discovered it, 9,000 files were already infected. Even after Norton found and quarantined them, I couldn’t recover my system or even restart the computer. I took it in to the repair shop for reformatting. No files were saved. Thank goodness for cd-backup. (now if I can just find that program again) Most of my documents had been backed up so nothing is irreplaceable; its just gonna be a pain in the ass.

So I am a little saddened by the loss of all my time and effort but on the other hand, I now have 46.75 gigs of hard drive space just sitting here empty.

I love Ultravox (thread title)

And reloading software is kinda fun. Congrats on getting back up and running!

Fenris

[hijacking my own damn thread]Thanks Fenris for acknowledging the ref to Ultravox. I love Midge Ure. I have a compilation cd of his titled “If I was” that I particularly like. [/hmodt]

I’ll now resume installing programs and such and thinking about that video in misty black and white {light greys and dark greys?).

I, too, love Midge Ure. I have the Breathe CD. It is some marvelous music.

Congrats on the computer stuff!
