That’s KETO jelly. doh…
Eat them raw then… they’re better for you!
Mmm, I think so, but I don’t really remember.
Most sugar-free candies are sweetened with sugar alcohols (malitol, lacitol, etc) and they don’t agree with me at all. I learned the hard way after eating 5 little SF Reese’s. It was like I ate a can of baked beans - cramps, gassy, ugh. So if you do try them, be careful. I almost thought I had a kidney stone the pain was so bad. That was lacitol, malitol isn’t so bad.
Hmm, I haven’t had that problem, Boscibo, but–and this is really sad–we’ve actually been eating more veggies at dinner than we were before (just got into a bad habit, I guess), and those cruciferous ones take a bit of getting used to.
ZipperJJ, you’ve lost 75 pounds? That’s awesome. I will try to remember that if I get discouraged. (I’ve got about 50 to lose.) I’ve got a friend who wants to lose weight, probably about 150 pounds, but hasn’t tried, I think because of fear of failure. I’d love to encourage her (‘cause I really want her to be around for a while). I may mention you to her, if you don’t mind. It might make her feel that it’s possible.
Hello,
Just wanted to chime in on the eggs thing… I don’t eat eggs much either, occasionally if I’m motivated I’ll make an omelet. There are soo many good things you can have for breakfast on this diet. I like to have half an avocado and some deli turkey or melt some cheese on a LC tortilla. Occasionally I’ll have bacon (the good Dr. says not every day ) or my favorite, kielbasa, but mostly I keep it light for breakfast.
Congrats Zipper on the 75lbs! I’m down 44 lbs in 10 months and have only 16 to go! Best of all, never felt better!

Lucky duck. I don’t even buy them anymore, it was that bad.
I have heard though that if you don’t get “tummy” problems from SF candies you are absorbing them at full carb count. I didn’t eat any treats at all in induction, I felt it was important to have a clean induction and break those bad candy/sweets cravings. Of course it is a personal choice, but many LC folk advise people in induction to avoid SF treats.
My favorite sweet treat (after induction) is berries with cream and splenda.
Boy, oh boy, have I had my moments with those LC sweets. Last Saturday, I slightly overindulged in some chocolate (2 servings worth) and… well, without getting into major TMI, let’s just say I had a very cleansing experience.
I’ve been on Atkins for almost 6 weeks now, and have lost 24 pounds–I’ve got another 65 or so to go, so I’ve still got a long road ahead of me. Thankfully, my husband is also on the diet with me, and he’s also done exceptionally well, losing 21 pounds in the same time.
The worst part of this whole experience for me is the fact that I’m a chef–I work with food every day and about 80% of it I can’t eat. I have my moments when I look at something with longing, such as last week when I was frying up plantains, but other than that, I really don’t miss the carbs all too often.
Making sure that we eat a good meal before we go out really helps with temptation for wanting carby snacks like ice cream or popcorn. Who wants that stuff when you’ve got a belly full of steak?
Yeah, it wasn’t planned. I just forgot my lunch on my first day and had to run to Wal-Mart for, well, typical Wal-Mart stuff, and that’s the best thing I could find, then I had one the next day too.
You know, Boscibo, now that I think about it, I think maybe it was the candy that messed with my digestion a bit, becaues I haven’t had any difficulty at all the past few days, and I’ve been eating broccoli and cauliflower (in allowed amounts, of course). Hmm … My experience wasn’t as bad as yours or JavaMaven1’s, but still–I’ll remember not to indulge when I’m going to be in polite company.
UPDATE: Yesterday I was very tired in the afternoon, and I realized this morning that I hardly drank any water the whole day. Word to the wise, I guess. I won’t make that mistake again.
I used to eat sugar-free cheesecake (that I made with Splenda) for breakfast almost every day while I was on Atkins. Faster and better than eggs!
