In Which State was George W. Bush Born

Wasn’t one of those written by the dog?

No, Leslie Lynch King, Jr. was born in Nebraska.

(we take our pedantry seriously around here!)

This is one of those cases like that of Abe Lincoln, where a politician becomes so closely associated with a state that everyone just assumes that they were born there. In Lincoln’s case everybody assumes that he was originally from Illinois (which does after all bill itself as the Land of Lincoln), but he was actually born in Kentucky and grew up in Indiana.

For a brief second, I thought maybe Maine (before I saw the options), but then remembered ‘Oh right, thats where he got busted for a DUI.’

I guessed Kenya.

I got it wrong, I used this famous quote as the basis for my answer:

“We don’t want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas.”

I got it right, but I might have guessed Maine if it had been an option.

D: According to Snopes, it’s “undetermined.” But, since I hate him so much, I believe it.

No Indonesia option?

Few people know that George W Bush was born a nudist.

Yeah right, as if anybody has proof they were born at all.

Or just basic quiz strategy. This wouldn’t be much of a poll question testing our collective wisdom if the answer were the obvious one: Texas. Then you have to pick from four choices and, knowing he and his father went to Yale, I picked Connecticut. Also, even not knowing that, I would have picked Connecticut because, I guess, it might seem surprising to some people that this neo-conservative president came from the stereotypically liberal Northeast part of the country, which is why someone might find it an interesting trivia question as opposed to, say, him being born in Oklahoma or Florida or somewhere.

It wasn’t Kenya, obviously. I would’ve guessed a log cabin in Hawaii masquerading as Kenya.

He was born in Iran. A sleeper!

Looking at the poll results, the people that frequent this board aren’t as stupid and uniformed as some might want to believe. Maybe ignorance is being fought.

There would be no reason to have this poll if the obvious answer was the correct answer. Pullyokamel explains it well. It’s a really good testing skill to learn. I’m pretty sure it’s how I got a 27 on the math portion of the ACT in seventh grade despite not knowing anything about trigonometry, and leaving a lot of answers blank.

And I didn’t look it up. This thread just reminded me that he was born in New England.

I thought it was common knowledge he was born in New England. His father was president and before that he was vice president, did he sound like he was from Texas?

Nearly right, the state in which he was born was naked.
