In which Teflon Don hands NBC's Katy Tur her ass and she likes it

Are you sure it’s not Kara Tur?

It’s amazing how someone can see what you want to see, if it’s their team on the screen.

It’s amazing to me how some of the posters here can claim to be so het up about accuracy and honesty while at the same time supporting the candidacies of people like Bill & Hillary Clinton and Barack (“if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor, if you like your health plan you can keep your health plan”) Obama.

And it’s amazing to me how someone can straightfacedly point to the Washington Post as an unbiased source when it gives away its bias almost immediately with its use of the term “undocumented immigrants” when we all know how they come to be undocumented in the first place. It would be interesting to know just when the Washington Post ever headlined one of its articles with “Bill/Hillary Clinton/Barack Obama’s false comments about X, Y or Z”.

Because, in general, these folks are significantly more accurate and honest (and less inaccurate and dishonest) than most Republican politicians.

These things can be measured, and the measurement favors Obama and the Clintons.

So, when asked what you think Mr. Trump means when he says he’s going to ‘bring jobs back to the US’, you start talking about something else entirely. OK, so we can assume you have no idea either, you just like the sounds he makes for some reason you can’t seem to articulate.

Well, that’s me convinced. Let’s just skip the primaries and go straight to the general. Hell, let’s just skip that as well, shall we? Trump by acclamation! Done.

Yes, what a surprise, people who like truth also like it when politicians tell the truth. The only way to make that statement a lie is to assume that health care reform was supposed to enslave doctors or something.

Maybe it’s Karika Tur.

Well somebody’s doing the raping, and Starving Artist has done his own extensive studies using paper towel tubes that conclusively prove it was Mexicans.

So I’m watching parts of the interview. Tur says that the Washington Post found many immigrants working on building Trump’s DC hotel, including some undocumented. Trump says, “They didn’t say that… In fact the writer was really surprised they weren’t able to find anybody… the whole story was about they thought they were going to find people and they weren’t able to find anybody.” (Quote starts at about 1:30)

WaPo article. And I quote: “But a Trump company may be relying on some undocumented workers to finish the $200 million hotel . . . “The majority of us are Hispanics, many who came illegally,” Arellano said in Spanish. . . . Several of the men, who hail mostly from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, have earned U.S. citizenship or legal status through immigration programs . . . . Others quietly acknowledged that they remain in the country illegally.”

I guess in Starving Artist’s view, we score this one for Trump?

Here’s another. Trump is talking about immigrants causing all sorts of crime. Tur says that there’s a lower incarceration rate for Mexican immigrants than for native born Americans. Trump says, “That’s a wrong statistic. Go check your numbers. It’s totally wrong. It sounds good, it’s a wrong statistic. Check your numbers.” (Quote starts at about 4:50).

This study found that the incarceration rate for U.S.-born men between 18-39 is 3.4 percent. For forieign-born Mexicans, the rate is 0.7 percent.

Now it could be that the incarceration rate is lowered due to deportation of Mexican-born immigrants, but Tur’s statement is backed up by this study.

Score another point for Trump, SA!

Trump: “The Art of the Deal was the number one business book of all time. Or just about.” (Quote at 11:20)

False.

Score another one for Trump!

Trump: “Our country is in trouble. We owe $18 trillion going up to $21 trillion very soon. Once we hit $24 trillion, we are Greece. We are Greece on steroids.” (quote at 14:33)

According to the CBO, the public debt is expected to stay between 73 and 74 percent of GDP from 2015 to 2020. After that, the debt is expected to rise to 78 percent of GDP by 2025. Currently, Greece’s debt to GDP is 175 percent.

Trump is killing it!

I get the feeling Trump has steamrolled more poor people literally than he has figuratively.

I feel bad for you for the warning you’re going to get once SA reports this. I don’t agree with it but he likes to tattle when people are mean to him about that part of his past.

Yep, warning. Don’t bring this up outside the Pit. How many times do we have to say this?

And SA did not report it, GrandWino. Give it a rest.

Is there another? Beefing up the border patrol wouldn’t help, they’ve long since reached a point of diminishing returns there, the border is just too long to control. Building a wall is a preposterous notion. And cracking down on the employers ain’t gonna happen. The only solution I can think of that might work is a national ID card that one can be required to show the police at any time, and that ain’t gonna happen either.

Other than that, you may be right.

Why not? He “may be” relying on undocumented workers is hardly a ringing condemnation nor proof he was wrong. I imagine there may also be some question as to whether the company in question is truly a Trump company or merely one of the many contractors Trump uses for the building of his projects. WaPo is hardly a non-biased source.

What a phony non-debunking that was! Your cite only tracks sales since 2001 and even since then Trump’s book has sold 177,000 copies, so it’s hardly a stretch to think it sold a million or more in total, since it was a blockbuster when it came out. And not only that, but your cite tries to debunk Trump’s claim of it being the number one business book by comparing it to other books that aren’t even business books.

My interpretation of Trump’s comment was that once we hit $24 trillion we’re in serious financial trouble, not that our public debt will be an exact match to Greece in terms of debt to GDP percentage.

But I suppose one can always find a suitable metric with which to make claims in support of whatever argument they’re trying to advance.

I’ll agree that the two or three of your cites that make mention of ‘Pinochhios’ are similar in accusatory tone to the one about Trump, but the other ones are mostly just mention of questions raised. Still, point taken. I’ll concede that the WaPo does occasionally call Dems to account for their actions, though I’d be surprised if it calls them to account with the same vigor and frequency that it does with someone like Trump, who isn’t even in office after all and is therefore involved in virtually none of the day to day shenanigans that Obama has pulled and the Clintons are notorious for.

I just sent you a PM about this, but you have to say it at least one more time apparently because I’ve never heard of that “rule”. In fact, I thought you were making it up until I searched GrandWino’s posting history due to your subsequent exchange with him.
