In which Teflon Don hands NBC's Katy Tur her ass and she likes it

It sold one million copies during the 51 weeks it was on the NYT bestseller list, which is still far less than the other books listed in that cite. You can argue that How to Win Friends and Influence People isn’t a “business book”, but you can’t make that claim about The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Same goes for Steve Jobs: it’s mostly a biography, but so is The Art of the Deal.

In all honesty, doesn’t matter if Starving Artist reported it or not. I’m on the other side of the aisle, politically but I would have reported it, also.

I disagree. TAotD describes in detail how Trump went about financing, negotiating and bringing off many of his projects at that time, including his negotiations with government agencies in order to gain needed approvals. He also described his business philosophies and how he went about accomplishing his projects. Trump was virtually unknown at the time outside Manhattan real estate circles. It’s unlikely a biography would have gone anywhere. It was his phenomenal business success at such a relatively early age that had everyone in thrall and made the book such a success.

The Steve Jobs book was mostly about what an asshole Steve Jobs was. Jony Ive is on record as saying he couldn’t think less of it, and most of Apple’s insiders are contemptuous of it as well. It can’t be accurately described as a business book at all.

As for the rest of the books Ravenman’s cite compares with Trump’s, most aren’t business books and those that might legitimately be described as business books almost certainly aren’t the ones Trump had in mind in making his claim. Anyone can pick and choose books they want to present as business books for the sake of comparison, but unless there’s some official category his book can be compared to it really isn’t possible to determine with certainty whether he’s correct or not.

His main point though was that The Art of the Deal was a huge blockbuster, and it was.

If he had said that, nobody would have been able to call him on it. But he didn’t.

Anyone else thinking about registering Republican just to vote for Trump in the primary (if he’s still an option)?

ATMB thread.

You mention the first part about “may be” and then you conspicuously ignore the quote in which workers on the hotel self-identify as working illegally in the United States. So does Trump, who totally misrepresents the article. He’s factually wrong as to what the article says – it doesn’t say that the reporter was surprised that he couldn’t find any illegal workers on the project. Why defend such an obvious falsehood by Trump?

I’m not sure if you did not read the cite, but the cite credits the book with selling 1 million copies. Even still, it ranks far behind other books.

If you don’t think “Seven Habits” is a business book, perhaps you want to tell Amazon. It is currently their #7 best selling book in their business section. “Win Friends” is number 32. I’m not even sure how one can possibly call “In Search of Excellence: Lessons from America’s Best Run Companies” a book that isn’t in the business genre, and it is credited with three times more sales than “Art of the Deal.”

Seriously, what genre would you put “In Search of Excellence” in? Psychology? Teen reading? Periodicals? Erotica?

And I interpret your statement to mean that the San Francisco Giants are going to repeat as World Series champions this year.

Trump said that our financial crisis will be worse than Greece’s. He is saying that the United States at a 78% debt-to-GDP ratio is going to be miles and miles worse than Greece today at a 175% debt-to-GDP ratio. This, my friend, is fucking crazy talk. There’s no finessing Trump’s point. There’s no nuance here: it’s plain crazy talk to believe that debt rising by 3% of GDP is the balance between an economy that is growing too slowly for people’s tastes and a complete economic meltdown that shutters banks, undermines the US dollar, and likely causes the collapse of the US government. Because that’s what is happening in Greece, and Trump says that going form 75% to 78% debt ratio is going to be much, much worse for the US.

Kuh-ray-zeee.

If someone handed me Katie Tur’s ass I’d like it, too.

Maybe she’s a tad narcissistic, liking her own ass, but hey, confidence is sexy.

Nope. My reason relates to Mom’s teaching about always wearing nice underwear.

In Texas, you don’t actually “register” for a party. If you vote in a primary, they stamp your Voters Registration card so you can’t switch parties if there’s a runoff.

What if I was in an accident & was rushed to the ER? While checking for ID, they’d find that card with an “R”. The shame of it!

I’d like to add that I’m finding it quite amusing that Starving is such a fervid Trump fan…

Some people refer to Starkers as a “contrarian”. They are nicer people than I am.

Are they, at least, nice enough to follow the rules of the forum to refrain from personal insults, (even if they are just strongly insinuated)?

Knock it off.

I can’t think of any Republican Pres. candidate I like more than I like Trump, albeit that I don’t like Trump much at all. I am not a great fan of Hillary either. I’d rather have Trump as Pres. than many (all?) of the other GOP contenders.

Include me as among those rooting for Sanders -vs- Trump!
Bernie and Trump. Starkly contrasting views(**). Neither one is a media or political darling, nor beholden to the Washington campaign-donor in-crowd. Catharsis for political America!

I sincerely think such a race in the early Fall 2016 would be great for America. Hillary vs Trump wouldn’t do – (“she just won becuz Trump was a weak opponent”); make it the strong contrast of Bernie(*) versus Trump. If Trump wins – Well, I think Mr. Trump might very well indeed make a better President than the Jeb!, Walker, etc.

(* - I’m worried about Bernie’s age. Is there a thread where we discuss his possible running mates?

** - I got 98% Sanders in the view comparison page, but higher on Trump than all but one Republi, IIRC)

Really?

I must give you credit as your statements in this thread appear to be every bit as accurate as Trump’s statements in that interview.
