No, sillies, I’m not going to join the clergy!! I meant it literally…tomorrow, little less than 24 hours from now, I am going to walk into a church. For the first time in…oh…maybe my whole life?
Precisely why? I’m non-religious, and for one thing it isn’t even Sunday. Okay, here’s why: I’m taking my AP Exams (English on Wednesday and History Friday). They take place inside the church across the street from my school. In rooms, not even in the pews.
Still…it’s odd. I’ve never been in a church, as I’ve said I’m non religious. I guess aetheistic, but I really don’t know if I believe in a god or not. In any case, the closest I’ve come is visiting a historical church, once in Williamsburg, and I think I may have passed one in Paris. The whole idea of going into one freaks me out…Damnit, I’ve never more felt like a heathen! Maybe I should bring my non-conversion spray, and my anti-fundamentalist spray…just in case…
It’s one of those things I’ve never thought about. Like, people go to these institutions, sometimes each Sunday, but i’ve never been. So to me it’s like a foreign and strange experience. So oddd that to some people, this is like a haven.
Perhaps this sounds like a bizarre rambling, but I figure I haven’t made a thread in awhile and its time to get cracking on one…oh and wish me good luck tomorrow?
Good luck Zoggie. If you get there early, I recommend you find a clergymen and discuss your theory of how evil is sexy.
And among everything else, keep track of how much time you have left. Don’t follow my example and think you have 20 minutes less than you really do. :rolleyes:

Awww, you remembered my evil/sexy thread? God I am touched. I didn’t think anyone did, but now I feel famous. I didn’t see any clergymen…I did see what looked like a kindly old janitor opening up the church he so loves.
The test itself took place in a little room upstairs…a freaky room. I guess a Sunday School type thing. One of my fellow students commented saying it looked like an insane asylum. (Don’t ask why!)
I did time myself…no clock, but the proctor kept us informed. Friday I’ll bring a watch of my own. Either the cow watch or the more formal gold.

Well, good luck on your AP history exam. Say, it’s been a while since I put myself through that agony - how long is it until you get your scores?
Piper, AP = advanced placement (classes). They’re high school courses that, if one does well enough on the exams, count for college credit.
David: I took U.S. History. European History is what some of my fellow students, but not me, took last year. I took English Language and Composition as well. And I’ll be getting my scores in July…we can call in for them July 2nd for about thirteen dollars, or just wait and get them a week later in the mail. I’m pretty sure I’ll be calling. Let’s hope I do well enough to maybe get college credit!
I’m talking to God now?! Subconciously, too, I had no idea I even put that in. Wow and I thought the closest contact I’d had with him- er, Him- was watching “God, the Devil, and Bob” on NBC last year. Hmmm, perhaps there’s hope for me yet.

Hey, you know, I never really followed up. I said i’d be getting my scores this summer, but I didn’t post them. And since I’m such a shameless self-promotor, you guys wanna see what i got?
Zoggie, what’s a five? Is that GOOD? I remember, back in the Dark Ages of the 1970’s, taking European History. The instructor taight with an eye towards us all taking an AP exam. We thought he was ROUGH, his tests lasted two days. And you know what? When we took the AP they were in JUST the same format as the tests Mr. Wingo had given us! We nearly all aced it and got credit for college.
Oh yes, it is. It goes from 1-5, and 5 is the highest. Though I believe they may have introduced the zero this year. According to the website, 20% of test takers got a 5 on the American History and 19% got it for English Language and Comp.

Ugh…I got a 3 on the Euro AP…but that’s ok, 'cause I kicked @$$ on the Regents (if you’re not from NY, you probally don’t know what these are…but just know that they’re nice)
