Anyone here ever have precognitive or otherwise fortune telling dreams?
My Story:
My wife had two dreams last July. In one, she dreamt that she had a positive pregnancy test. In the other one, she was holding a baby girl, her own.
We had gone through two years of infertility treatments, and had quit after negative results in May 1999. So she was very upset upon awakening, knowing that they weren’t true.
But on a lark, she had me pick up pregnancy tests. The next morning, she comes running to my bathroom waving the card with the two little blue lines: we were pregnant!
After that, she was fairly confident that the child was a girl. Even all of the “old wives’” methods for sex determination were saying it was a girl. (One friend was holding out for a boy, but she’s a gambler. :)) The sonograms couldn’t see anything (the shy child was covering up its groin with its feet) until February. The tech was a nurse that we’d met at the infertility clinic. While a doctor wouldn’t’ve looked for the sex if it was taking too long, our tech kept looking and looking. She finally said that she wasn’t sure, but the way other structures looked that it was probably a girl. Then suddenly, the baby moved its legs. Voila! It was a girl!
I have never had such a dream that predicted a future even.
I am replying to say Congrats.
Hope you and the little lady have a wonderful time with your daughter.
This is a little off topic, but relates to your story nonetheless.
I have a bit of a reputation for guessing the sex of babies yet to be born. I have never been wrong either. It’s not something I can do on request, no one ever asked me to guess, I just have with almost every pregnant woman I’ve come in contact with and have always been right. I guessed all three of my kids, both of a good friend’s and many others. I just know. So, I don’t know if that counts as some sort of precognition, or if it has just been enormous luck, or some actual physical factor (Like I can smell it or something…) but, there you have it.
congrats on the pregnancy! i wish you lots of happy times with your daughter!
i occasionally used to dream of marks id get on exams at school…id have a dream saying 84% or something, and when i got the test back, i would be right. thats about it in terms of dreams telling the future for me!
I had the same experience while pregnant with my 2nd child. I was positive that I was having another girl. When I had my sonogram done I told them I didn’t want to know the sex because I wanted it to be a surprise and because I was sure it was a girl. Then one night when I was about 6 1/2 months along I had a dream that I had a boy. I went to my doctor’s appointment that week and told him about my dream asked for another sonogram so I could find out the sex because I had all of my girl stuff out that was left over from my daughter and if I was gonna have a boy I wanted to be prepared! They did the sonogram and lo and behold… it was a boy!! The nurse doing the sonogram focused in on the groin area and took some pictures and said, “that’s a scrotum if I’ve ever seen one!” I’ve got about 6 pictures from that sonogram that are just penis/ball shots! I just couldn’t believe it! So now I have a girl and a boy and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve also had dreams about things that will happen in the future but they don’t happen for a year or two. I’ll be doing something and get this weird de je vu feeling and then I’ll remember my dream and I can tell you what someone’s gonna say or do before they do it. That’s kind of strange!
Congratulations and good luck with your daughter!!
Actually, my midwife says there’s an explanation for this sort of thing. I knew the very night that I got pregnant the second time. Something clicked, I knew. My midwife says it isn’t uncommon, and that, in fact, the mother has about 80% or more chance of being correct if she guesses the baby’s sex. There was never any doubt for me, I knew they were boys - even when the sonograms were uncertain with the second. It’s just one of those things. Congratulations to both you and your lady though, this is a stressful but VERY good time. smile
only once…
my senior year of high school i dated this girl from Bayonne, NJ. i stayed over her house one night, but slept in their finished basement, as the parents weren’t about to let their teenage daughter have her boyfriend in her bed , anyway… so i was tired anyway, and fell asleep. i had a strange dream that i woke up out of my body and walked over to the staircase, just on the side of the staircase, the brick wall. i felt like someone was calling me there, and when i reached the bricks, (this whole time i felt like i was walking, it was very weird, very real) i pulled out one particular brick, and inside was a box. i pulled out the box, and in the box was a note that read “tell melanie i love her, i’ll always be there to look after her.”, (melanie was my girlfriend), then an image appeared in front of me, and it was melanie, except with much darker hair, but dead on exact likeness. she told me her name was samantha. then i just went back to myself on the couch, and the next thing i remember was waking up later that morning and going upstairs to the kitchen to eat breakfast with her dad. Melanie was still sleeping, so i left and went home, had to go to work, when i got home from work, Melanie called, i told her about the dream, i thought it was funny, and she thought it was just wierd. 2 hours later, she called me back crying, she had told her mom the dream, and her mom was crying too, apparently, and Melanie didn’t know this, but she had a twin sister that died shortly after birth, the family had lived in that house for two generations so far, and that’s where melanie was born. Her mom was pretty upset with me for having the dream, but how was i supposed to know? i’m usually a skeptic, i’m spiritual, but skeptical at the same time about these things, but it never felt so real before, and it never happened again.
Only about the babies. I, too, was right about both of mine. Dreamed (dreamt?) about holding babies and knowing their gender, although I didn’t actually check in the dream. Wierd…
I have a wierd habit of starting to sing a song while I’m listening to the radio-- not the one being played-- and have it be the next song up. This only happens when I’m not paying attention to the radio and generally freaks out whoever I’m with. Which is pretty cool.
Congrats on the baby, AWB!
Here’s my story–I had a dream where my friend Tamira and I were driving down South Batesville Road in Taylors, SC, in her older brother’s car and after she stopped at an intersection near Pelham Parkway, and blue Honda Civic plowed right into her. I woke up and wrote the dream down because I was into doing that at the time, and she called me the next day. The exact same thing happened to her! She was in a car accident on the same streets, with a Honda Civic! She was ok, but the car was destroyed, and she had neck problems for awhile, and a couple of bruises.
I do this too. Except for me it’s in the morning, I’ll start to sing or hum a song before the alarm goes off. Then when the alarm goes off a couple of minutes later, it’s the exact song I was singing. It has happened, once or twice, that I was singing the song and the alarm came on with the song at the same point so I’m singing in time with the radio. Weird!
My wife was convinced they would be twins, and said it, almost from conception. And girls, making me paint their room pink. An almost butch, antique rose pink (it was '89–gimme a break), but pink nonetheless.
I have dreams like you wouldn’t believe, and I have tried to stop some of them because I have a bad habit of dreaming people to death.
The nite my grandfather died I had a dream he was packing a suit case and I kept unpacking it telling him he couldn’t go. My grandmother told me to let him go because they were both ready. The next day I got the phone call that he died from his battle with luekeimia.
When I have a dream about someone I care about in a dangerous situation, I call them no matter what time it is to warn them. If it happens or not at least I feel better because they had warning.
I also did the baby thing with myself and people close to me. Kinda funny I just had one about myself and I have had my tubes tied for almost three years. The only difference is that the child was 5 or so and not a baby, but I knew she was mine. I miscarried twins girls about that time, and the one little girl was looking for her sister.
