You people at the PTC think you’re so high and mighty, don’t you? You’ve been uthlessly demanding that everything on TV conform to your moral beliefs, especially shows broadcast during the time frame you arrogantly designated as “family hour”, as though you have a God-given right to an environment where you give your kids carte blanche to watch whatever they want, whenever they want. So Family Guy was #2 on your list of the 10 most offensive TV shows, was it? You were glad it was taken off the air, weren’t you? Think you were one step closer to a 100% kid-friendly lineup, don’t you?
Think again.
It’s back! And if you have a problem with that, you can just suck my balls, you arrogant, Bible-thumping, un-American, nearly asexual, barely sentient, anal retentive, homophobic, intolerant, deluded pigheads!
I would’ve worked in terms like “donkey raping shit eater” or “ass spelunker” but it’s obvious most of you had great difficulty figuring out how to have sexual intercourse so you could make children to protect.
I’d say something about how now you’ll have to pay attention to what your kids watch and try to actually teach them good moral values yourself instead of expecting the TV to do it, but you don’t seem to be capable of that since your brains have clearly stagnated from disuse.
Now I just hope that Family Guy fans everywhere can send the message that you do not come anywhere near representing the general TV viewing population.
I think you’re a little confused here about what is exactly un-American. America was founded by arrogant, bible-thumping, nearly asexual, anal retentive, homophobic, intolerant Puritans. In fact, they founded this country precisely for the purpose of going somewhere to establish a new puritannical order. Fortunately, wiser heads prevailed and the constitution restrained the worst of those tendencies.
Not that I disagree with you that those properties you listed are undesirable, but they are hardly un-American.
And ferchrissakes, it’s only a CARTOON. You should pick your battles, maybe you should save up your wrath for when these fundies start demanding changes in school textbooks.
I don’t care one way or the other about the fate of Family Guy, but I agree with your rant in spirit. I’m tired of other people bitching and moaning about what’s on TV teaching our children bad morals.
You know what, dickwads, I decide what’s bad morals for myself. And when the time comes I’ll teach my children what’s right and wrong, I won’t plop them in front of the TV and expect Hollywood to teach moral values to my kids.
You don’t like what’s on TV and you find it offensive - then don’t let your kids watch! Buy them books, do puzzles, go outside and play hide and seek if you don’t want your kids subjected to the offensive television material. You don’t HAVE to watch television. It is not being forced upon you.
It’s that simple. If you don’t like the show, don’t watch.
Most importantly though, if you don’t like the shows, don’t try to force YOUR moral standards on me.
Look at their list of good shows. One of them is Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Get this:
You coulda fooled me!
Chas.E:
RoboDude has posted in favor of stem-cell research here and here, and against the posting of the Ten Commandments in public schools. Why not compliment the guy for what he has done instead of criticizing him for what he has not?
Did anyone see what the PTC said about Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Specifically:
I suppose it’s understandable that people like them would find that show highbrow, but most of the questions on it don’t exactly require extensive education.
All I can say is thank god for these good hearted folks who don’t want to see us led astray by sex, nudity, violence, or the occult. Thank you for pointing out the evils of living a homosexual lifestyle or getting together with your friends for some cold beers and debaucherous conversation.
I am so going to burn in hell if these folks are right, that is, if there’s a hell and if these people are right. Which they aren’t.
Once again, we are treated to the wisdom of Chas E.
America wasn’t exactly “founded” by the puritans. They came here to escape religious persecution while this was still just a new land. America, as we know it, was founded by nonreligious free-thinking Masons, which is why our government is set up the way it is. I don’t think there were very many “Puritans” amongst the founding fathers.
If’n you wanted to teach your children morality and such, isn’t there a certain 66-book collection that you profess to contain most of the guidance related to morality?
Their entire position, judging particularly from their answer to the question “If you don’t like something on television, why don’t you just change the channel?”, seems to be “You twits are too dumb to be responsible for yourselves and your children.”
They have a little pop-up encouraging us to send hate mail to comedy central and advertisers who’s spots run during South Park. I think I’m going to write a letter to each of them saying “Thanks”, that I teach my kids morality myself instead of letting their programs do it, and that I’ll be sure to buy their products to show my support.
There are many groups of American settlers that came here because they were kicked out of every country in Europe for their bigotry and inability to get along with anyone. Many early settlers fell in this group. Many later groups (i.e. Amish, Mormons) have their “persecution” and migration enshrined as religious doctrine.
But anyway, returning to the OP, now in retrospect, I am offended. I insist that “Norm” be awarded it’s rightful spot on the list at #1. If there are any stuck-up conservative prudish buffoons who are NOT offended by Norm McDonald, it’s just because they’re too dense to understand the jokes. And the joke’s on them.
They’re at it again. Read the CNN story. They got Senators Joe Lieberman, D-Connecticut, and Sam Brownback, R-Kansas in their corner. A choice quote:
“Boston Public is low-brow?!” It’s one of the best shows on TV! And it’s about life in a high school! They don’t want kids to watch a show about a high school?! Comparing it to the WWF is absurd, even ludicrous.
Hey, I used to be a stuck-up conservative prudish buffoon and I didn’t get offended by Norm MacDonald. Well, okay, I just watched him when he was the news guy on SNL, but still…
But fear not, kind liberals, I’m now a genuine Moderate Republican.

…the FCC decided, on their own, that radio and TV were the only two parts of American life NOT protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution. I’d like to repeat that because it sounds vaguely important. The FCC, an appointed group, not elected, not answerable to anyone except the president, decided on their own that radio and television were the only two parts of American life not goverened by the Free Speech provisions of the Constitution of the United States of America. They did that because they got a letter from a minister. In Mississippi. A Rev Donald Wildman heard something on the radio that he didn’t like. Well, Reverend, did anyone ever tell you there were two knobs on the radio? Two knobs on the radio! One of them turns the radio off…and the other changes the station! Can you believe that? You can actually change the station. It’s called Freedom of Choice, and it’s one of the principles this country was founded upon. Look it up in the library, Reverend, if you have any left when you’re finished burning all the books.

I’m planning on sending mail to Comedy Central pointing out that “South Park” didn’t make the ‘10 Worst’ list, and demand that they try harder this year. (The epsiode with 82 [or whaterver it was] un-bleeped 'shit’s seems like a good start.)
PS–Why is “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” one of their ‘10 Best’? Isn’t greed supposed to be one of the 7 deadly sins?
If Boston Public is about school, then The Devil and Miss Jones is a Bible documentary. Get real. I don’t think the people who write that show ever went to high school. Would that my school experience were that exciting.
