I have never rejected the reason - I have said I disagreed a few times that the emotion behind it seems too strong but mostly I have asked why do people feel that way.

I am not asking this to justify anything. I am trying to understand the reasons.

Let me state it this way. If I was to ask a homophobe why he or she felt that homosexuality was wrong they would have “reasons” as well, but I am guessing those reasons would not be convincing to anyone other than other homophobes.

Now certainly I don’t think the two are fully comparable, but many homophobes have very twisted points of view about homosexuals. Things like they “convert” straight people by raping them or that they are all twisted creeps who prey on children.

I agree that in very general terms a relationship between an adult and a teen is most likely not a good idea. I agree someone who seeks out teens if they are much older is likely a dangerous thing.

I just think it is innately bad, that without knowing the two people one can know it is inappropriate.

And you’ve been told why people feel this way. OVer and over. Allow me to list the fundamental reasons that have been offered to you:

  1. People feel this way because the younger person does not have a fully developed brain and consequently is not in a position to make decisions or judgments on the level of the older person. This is, incidentally, not opinion, but is objective fact.

  2. People feel this way because the older person very likely possesses advantages of freedom and financial resources the younger person does not that would allow them to dominate the relationship and exert a level of power that might be unhealthy.

  3. People feel this way because it is simply the extreme likelihood that the older person has so much more experience in relationships that they have, again, a huge advantage in the opportunity to manipulate the younger.

  4. People feel this way because their real world experience of such relationships is overwhelmingly, if not universally, that they are unhealthy and do not work.
    That’s what people have been saying, over and over and over, for about 140 posts.

There doesn’t seem to be such a thing as an inappropiate relationship if your the Prime Minister of a ‘comedy’ country like Italy.
