In my case, it was because I was having a bastard of a time at work. I was browsing the dope, certainly, during what downtime I had, but I didn’t have the concentration left to make any kind of reasonable conclusions on the vote after dealing with a hardware RAID explosion on one of my main file servers.
At least the death rate will go down, since all night kills were obligatory. Hate to lose the Vig though.
I think at this point we have a few problems–one is that there is a large participation gradient. It feels like a few people are talking all the time, there’s a middle tier of people who are participating but not chattering a lot (I’d put myself here), and a group of folks we haven’t really heard much from at all. Those latter ones are an issue. Another is that with no scum or pfk kills yet, we haven’t got a tremendous amount to go on in terms of evidence. And third is the obvious–this was billed as a Gastard game, but we really don’t have any evidence for what might make it one.
There were 2 NKs Night 1, and 2 during Night 2. This is good. Either there are (well, were) only 2 killing roles or someone was either roleblocked or doc-protected. This is an indication of good things for Town.
On the other hand, the deaths so far are have been really bad - 6 dead Townies, though losing the Vig might be a good thing in the long run. Compulsory Vigs are only good when they are lucky.
Click on the post number in the forum index and it will give you a pop up with who posted and how many time. If you then click on their name it will give you their posts in the thread.
Out of Nanook’s posts, only 2 seem to have much content (208 and 348). It’s odd, because his last post here (4 days ago) says he is in the middle of something and he’ll be right back.
If he is on the board but not posting here, that is lurking at it’s worst. Sometimes I am too tired and busy, and the thought of wading through a Mafia game to build a case is too daunting, but I always try. If I really couldn’t, I would tell people in the thread.
Two kills again - so it looks like Gryff hit town both times, and that we don’t have a SK – tho I guess a doc could have gotten lucky both times to prevent an SK kill.
Nanook is bothering me, he’s been online, not posted. Maybe online to PM a night action?
I’ll throw my vote on the pile, too. If he’s not going to be subbed out or whatever, there’s no point in having him. He’s done pretty much nothing for this game.
Well, I have a few ideas, but they mostly rely on seeing what the death toll is Tonight–I think we’ll learn a lot based on how many kills we see. Now that we have a vigilante dead, if we see any number of kills other than two, any doctor who was involved at any point in blocking kills has a great reason to speak up. I also think working our way up the lurker list is a good idea–it’s been far too quiet a game, and I admit I haven’t posted as often as I’d like, but we’re not having anything to go on and that’s going to do nothing but hurt us. As is usual for this kind of game, in my experience, once a scum makes a slip or we catch one by luck, then we’ll have an easier time with it but the first scum is always the worst.
Anyway, I agree that getting rid of the lurkers seems like a good plan. So far it seems like the people who have been dying in the night are kind of middlers. That is they don’t talk a huge amount but they’re not stone silent either. Though peeker was saying quite a bit in the night before he died. But like Gryff and TexCat were kind of in the middle. They’d vote or talk but not really say anything exceptional.
What I was working on was fixing my computer. I got hit by a virus or something, and it corrupted some core Windows files. I just got done spending 5 hours on the phone with tech support and got it back working. Of course, now I get to spend a bunch of time reinstalling shit. Such fun.
Sorry to hear that. However, I also think that this game won’t help you to achieve a healthy computer (and you’re unlikely to be very helpful in the mean time).
