Inblourious Gasterds Mafia

Confirming

Right. I’m now going to speculate about how this game could be Gastardly.

To begin with, let’s check what we know to be true:

What does this mean? Well, he DIDN’T say that ALL of those roles would be in the game; just that everyone would have one of them.

On the other hand, it means that the Cop or Cops (if there are any) can trust their investigations, as there are not Godfather or Miller roles in the game. Further, there aren’t any recruiters, bombers, jesters, or other weirdo roles.

How could the game be gastardly?

1 - Multiple scum teams. At least as I read the Mafia Goon role, it doesn’t preclude there being other Goons on other Mafias that you don’t know about.

2 - Large numbers of vig’s or serial killers (none of whom are voluntary). I guess we’ll have some idea after night 1 if this is the case, though of course it’s possible that multiple vig/sks might choose the same target or some such.

3 - A lot of doctors. Who said this game couldn’t be gastardly towards the scum?

That’s what I can think of.

How bout a lot of doctors AND a lot of serial killers AND a lot of vigs?

Got my PM.

I might be overthinking it, but it just says everybody has one of those roles, not that they have only one or that there might not be more to your role than that or that you’re definitely getting full information about your role, right?

Oh, yeah, we also know that there are no scum power roles whatsoever; the doctor, cop, vig, and roleblocker pms given in the setup all mentioned a win condition of “you win if all threats to the town have been removed from the game (or eliminated)”.

I think the line about every player having one of the roles implies “only one”, but I could be misparsing/falling for a gasterdly trick.

PM botten.

You gotta stop with the whole Gasterd’s Honest Truth thing, people gonna thing you gone soft.

Eff em is what I say. Make em wonder.

Three people that I pick at random will die toNight!

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

ahem.

Enjoy the game.

Some preliminary thoughts: if we have to kill someone every day (or have a randomized vote if we don’t decide), then the death count will be high. Add to that the other mandatory death roles–not sure if we have them but assuming we have at least one other, isn’t this game going to go really fast? I mean, there are only fifteen players.

Soft? Never!

It’s more of a Good Cop/Bad Cop type thing. I get them to think I’m their friend while you make them fear you, and then I swoop in with a knife in the back.

Confirming PM receipt, and hoping to survive to a new personal best around here of Day Three.

I’d like to read the previous games Hoopy linked to to get an idea of the scope of Gasterdness we might expect, but I haven’t had time yet. Hopefully before Day One.

Mostly look at Hoopy’s game. The Gastard Arena, while my game (partially), will have very little to do with this game in terms of Gasterdy. It’s the a to e switch really. Once you start spelling it Gasterd all bets are off.

Note the plural…and its the honest truth. Multiple dicks, docs and blocks?

And thinking about how Town could deal with or detect these Gastardly setups

This doesn’t seem to be a problem for Town, except that there would probably be a lot more Mafia than you’d normally expect in a setup like this. It’s possible we’ll find out after death which Mafia a Goon belongs to. If not, then Town might never know until game’s end that there were multiple teams. (Scum wouldn’t know until someone from the other team dies).

Lots of (involuntery) vigs could be a big problem on night 1; town could possibly try to publicly direct them all onto one target so the doctor (if there is one) can protect that target, or at least to minimize the night 1 deaths. (As I read the doctor role, it looks like one doc can stop multiple kills). On the other hand, especially if there are also multiple docs, this could lead to protection being overly focused and wasted due to all the docs piling on to the designated target.

I guess we could ask vig’s to claim, so they can be targeted by roleblockers, but then they’d also be sitting ducks for the scum, and we also don’t know if there are any roleblockers. (I’m not sure I read Hoopy’s response as confirming the existence of multiple etc’s. Just that if they hypothetically did exist, they would not be mandatory.)

You could try voting for the vig target, or just pick one using baseball or basketball scores or something as a randomizer.

(SK’s of course won’t take town direction anyway).

This also doesn’t seem like it would be a problem for town, although there would probably be some kind of compensating pro-scum gastardliness.

I propose 4 doctors, 3 SKs, 3 vigs, 4 goons, and one lonely vanilla town wondering what all the fuss is about.

Hm. Just realized something.

Will we find out after a player is dead what faction/role he/she was?

[Gasterds’ Honest Truth]
Role-reveal will occur upon death of a player.
[/Gasterds’ Honest Truth]

pm receiveth.

There will have to at least be multiple goons, assuming there are any goons, because what’s the point of being scum if you can’t communicate with anybody? And it would tip you off if you were a goon and had no team members.

I got my PM. I just hope this is a more enjoyable gastard game than the last one, which I didn’t really like very much.
