On a much darker and seedier note, I wonder if making dolls that look like children could provide an outlet for pedophiles and keep them from offending.
I don’t know about that. Men haven’t been replaced by vibrators and women haven’t been replaced by fleshlights. I think there is way too much involved in a relationship to say that a man or woman could be replaced by a robot. A prostitute could absolutely be replaced with a sex bot. A wife? Not so much. I think Roxxxy will give men who are social outcasts and men who want only sex with none of the emotional component a way to get laid without dealing with the dating world but those people aren’t really actively searching for a relationship now without having a robot fellating them either. I think it will change very little about our society and the way we approach love and dating.
I would even disagree with this. A prostitute is still a person with a pulse, a breath, and working limbs.
The functional uterus is what makes it a seller’s market - otherwise I figure that over the years I’ve been a net exporter of emotional comfort as well as material wealth. And I’m willing to bet that modern consumer electronics can be made a lot lower-maintenance than flesh and blood, literally as well as metaphorically.

Well, it can’t replace a good relationship. I see no reason why such a device couldn’t provide sex just as good as the real thing though.
All in all I think that a really humanlike sexdroid would be a good thing. It would give men who just want sex and nothing else a better outlet, and keep them from bothering women. And it would require women to bring more to a relationship than a pretty face and female sex organs. Or to put it another way, if a sex toy can replace a woman, then you are better off without her, and if a man can be satisfied with just a sex toy, you are probably better off without him.
And what about men who put up with a woman who is nasty or crazy simply because they are desperate for sex? A mindless machine may not be able to provide a real relationship, but there are plenty of relationships that are worse than nothing. A machine may not be able to provide you with children, but it isn’t going to divorce you, get custody of the kids and raise them to hate you, either.
To sum up, I think that it isn’t a bad idea for women to have to at least leap the bar of “better than a sex doll” in order to attract a man. The vast majority can I’m sure, and the rest men are better off avoiding.

As for the doll in the OP, I’m supposed to be worried about competing with a frightening looking hunk of plastic? Isn’t that like saying I should be worried about competing with…I don’t know, Gumby? Actually, you can. The desire for sex and the desire for a relationship are two largely separate agendas. Depending on mood and personality, a man can just be looking for sex; or he could be looking for a relationship, children, etc. The women who risk being “put out of business” by some hypothetical sex droid are the ones who offer only the former.

Are there a small but significant portion of men that other than the sex, the woman is pretty much something to be endured? Yes, IMO.
Those kinda women are gonna have to step things up a notch or be single. Which means other, more tolerable women will now have competition so THEY will have to step it up a notch. Which means the good women will now have competition so THEY will have to step it up a notch. And so on up the partner market competition chain.
Don’t get me wrong, IMO the percentage of “good gawd, why does he put up with that woman?” women is about the same as “what the hell does she see in him?” men. Or if you think my observations are irrelevant replace that with men or women that complain endless about how much their partner suck and how miserable they are because of them.
If its a fraction of a percentage of men that just want fuckbots, then its probably not going to have any real social impact, besides some new TV sitcoms. If its something like 10 percent, give or take or more, then IMO its going to have some social impact.
Folks can pontificate about what men really want and what women bring to the table and all that jazz, but IMO I think we are just going to have to see how this actually shakes out down the road.
Yeah, that’s what they said when they introduced sperm banks: Hell, women won’t need men for ANYTHING any more. You can see how much fitter, stronger, and faster prospective male suitors have gotten as a result of their new competition.
