It keeps claiming my SDMB link clicks (such as ‘new thread’) are not valid links and that it must attempt to find what I intended to look for.
I hate wanky pieces of internet crap that assume things. Even if I did want to search for something I CERTAINLY wouldn’t use your crappy piece of crappy crap of a search ‘engine’.
(yeah I know this is my fault for posessing grokster. And I know I can solve this with adaware, but damn well fuck off and let me rant will you!)
Fabulous rant Lobsang
I’m with you. I just returned a computer to a client after removing 368 pieces of spyware. It’s getting silly.
Yes, Adaware should get rid of that for you. More info if it floats your boat.
And another thing. The process of increasing sneakiness of popups seems to be never-ending. The most recently discovered (by me at least) is the placing of the popup in such a way that the close button is just off the side of the screen, so that the person unaccustomed to the method of right-clicking the popup’s task-bar button and then clicking ‘close’ will have to move the popup before closing it.
One day I am going to admit defeat and stop using my computer. I am not a proud man, so it will be an easy thing to do. I will have peace until the inevitable time when popups (or unwanted deliberate intrusive adverts) will not need computers or TVs and will be able to bug me even if I am in the middle of a forest with no clothes on and a fully fuelled chainsaw.
That used to happen to me all the time. Then I switched to Firebird as my main browser. No more pop ups or redirecting spyware.
Somehow, Tripod seems to be able to sneak pop-ups in, and I have no idea how. However, this is the only stuff that gets through. The best part is that there are no parasite redirecting spyware apps for Firebird.
Alright, Firebird has its faults, I grant you. And it’s not for everyone, as it’s a bit different from IE. But I’m happy with it. Perhaps you would be too.
