Index to the LotR "What If" Thread!

OUTSTANDING!

Wow. Now with all the “slash dot” additions (868 posts as of now) the index will need a major update. Ummmm. Good luck and God bless.

Tell me about it. However, a good portion of those 868 posts are “Wow, this is so great” types, not huge entries.

Still,. Has a thread ever been closed for being too popular?

Just for the record, my “Sauron, by JRR Plathkien” was supposed to be a parody of Sylvia Plath’s “Daddy,” if you wanted to add that to your register. It’s the only one I’ve managed to write so far that didn’t end up doubling up with someone else’s efforts, so I’m particularly proud of it. Thanks.

OK, thanks. It’s on hold until the weekend or so, but I plan to giv Euty a run for the money. Apparently Mr. Teemings has something against databases and php.

Authors: John Grisham

TV Shows: All In The Family/Norman Lear

Movies: John Cusack, Forrest Gump, Rain Man/Dustin Hoffman

Musical Theatre: Les Miserables (2), Chess

Singers: Sarah MacLachlan, The Mamas and The Papas, U2

Miscellaneous: Dr. Phil, Limericks, Heard Over the South Pacific

…and those are just the ones I posted… although you did list my Pinky & The Brain grin

av8rmike, may I respectfully request these additions to the index as they are sincere efforts, and I DID read the thread before posting!

First, a couple of ‘serious’ author efforts:

  • Kim Stanley Robinson
  • T.S. Eliot (The Love Song of J.R.R. Prufrock)

Next, the humourous ones which got a laugh from the readers:

  • sysadmin
  • Bumper stickers of the Ring
  • Engrish version (all your Ring are belong to us!)
  • haiku (a few throughout the thread)
  • limericks (there are a few throughout the thread)

Good job, that man.

But where is the reference to my ‘Jolly Swagman’ effort?

and hey, what about the legalese posts? grin

There’s an Laurell K Hamilton version?? Where? If someone would direct me to the correct page (it’s all great but so much to wade through that I can only read one page at a time and it keeps growing sobs)

Don’t remind me, Obsidian… 30+ pages!

:: wanders off in search of strong drink and possibly strychnine ::

You also left out the philosophers… Alexis de Tocqueville, etc. (I did him, I know other people did others, can’t recall exactly who tho)

TV Shows: The Twilight Zone, The Brady Bunch

You know, with a bit of editing, someone could publish this thing as a book … although the copyright issues would be, well, difficult.

I know my “OJ Simpson trial” parody would not be edited out, though it is not in the index yet.

U2! Don’t forget the U2 spoofs!

Frodo take a walk
to the mountain of doom…

Sorry- I didn’t see this till just now-

it’s from Bram Stoker’s SAURONULA- in DRACULA, Stoker had the character Dr. Jack Seward keep his Journal on Phonographic Wax Cylinders.

In case it wasn’t obvious, mine was Robert Graves.

Actually, it wouldn’t be any problem at all, so long as the “someone” was the Chicago Reader:

Apologies to both you (and of course A. B. “Banjo” Paterson) - you did mention it!
