Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Anyone else playing? Thoughts?

I’m only a few hours in, still in the Vatican, but it’s by far my favorite game this year. I’m not really a fan of first person games, but I loves me some Dr. Jones, so had to play.

I do find the map a little confusing to use, so I probably get to my target area slower than some. My biggest complaint so far is that, with keyboard and mouse, opening locked doors takes 3 different key presses.

PS If anyone has a Nvidia graphics card and wants a free copy of this game, DM me and let me know (I have a promo code for it, but the redemption only works for Nvidia cards). Seems like a good game for people who like this genre!

Downloaded on Gamepass last night but only played for about 20 minutes. I put the original setting on “tinted” for interactable items which is very annoying. Have to figure out how to turn that off.
Still going through the Raiders opening but it looks great.

I’ve been thinking about playing it, but I’m one of those people who can’t play a standard FPS because I get motion sickness from it (a friend of mine had a brother who was on the team of artists doing the graphics for Heretic, and I helped beta test it, and every day I’d leave with a splitting headache and nausea).

Even the more recent advances in game technology have not done anything to reduce those effects if I try to play an FPS.

So I guess I have to sit this one out.

I’m the same and being cautious with this one. Wouldn’t have tried it if it wasn’t on Gamepass. I’ll have to see how it goes after playing more.

For those of you who can’t play first person games but love Indy, the old LucasArts adventure titles are wonderful if you haven’t tried them. They’re point and click top down games.

They have their own stories that reuse some characters from the movies but otherwise have their own lives. Fate of Atlantis is IMHO one of the best games ever

They’re cheap these days:

ugh sorry, can’t figure out the URL formatting. It goes to GOG (good old games)

I’ll probably get it when it’s on sale, but then again I have had Uncharted for about three years when it went on sale and never got around to installing it. I may finally do that this coming holiday break.

Anyways, I am hesitant about the first-person, as I prefer third-, but if the reviews are strong I’ll likely overlook that.

My nvidia card broke on my PC, but I do have the PC. Can I claim it?

I now have Steam Deck, which is not Nvidia. Will the free game claim on steam?

I’ll happily take it if you are offering.

The most recent Tomb Raider trilogy was was third person and a ton of fun.

Oh yeah, Great Circle would be awesome as 3rd person, but alas…

Sent you a DM. Let’s try it and see.

I have it on Xbox Gamepass. I must admit I actually uninstalled it after getting to Indy’s university at the start because I was finding it holding my hands far too much, do this, find that, with a guy giving me unwanted hints all the time. I’d also read an unfavourable review and decided it wasn’t my thing. Then I read a favourable review and decided to give it another chance. Now I’m really enjoying it. I should know not to read reviews early on, but I can’t help myself.

The voice acting is great. I’ve just watched the latest Indiana Jones movie so I have Harrison Ford’s voice fresh in my head, and the voice actor for the game is very believable. I find the face animations to take me down the uncanny valley though. They remind me a lot of a ventriloquist’s dummy.

No, folks. This is available. My account logged in, but it said “your hardware does not qualify for this claim code” or something.

Probably also requires a current gen card since it’s a promo offer.

I’d be happy to give it a shot and tickled if it works.

I’m asking Mahaloth to see we want to try a workaround. If not, I’ll send you the code. Please give us a few days.

Also, OP, sorry for the small hijacks here… I should’ve thought through that better and made a linked topic instead.

I’m taking the workaround!

Sorry for hijacking this thread sideways.

Please resume discussing gameplay, etc.

The voice is performed by the great Troy Baker, who has also voiced the Arkham Knight in the eponymous game, and was Joel Miller in both of the Last of Us games.

Has he pretended to be Harrison Ford before? It’s actually pretty good.

I downloaded from game pass. It’s definitely worth trying out if you have game pass. I’m really liking it, certainly far more than Stalker 2. But…I’m not glued to it as I normally am with games I like. I’ll play it for a couple hours and enjoy it, then I’ll go back to something else for a day or so before returning to Indy. There’s plenty to like in the main story missions; it feels like you’re in a movie. But the side missions seem kinda tacked on to extend the gameplay.
