Not really. The “you didn’t vote” was never a statement that "no one " voted. It was “not enough Democrats” voted. Do you think that’s not true?
It’s amazing how some of you guys are so defensive about any little criticism directed at the party to the point where one wonders if you even care about winning at all, just so long as the narrative is that the Democrats should have won.
Personally, I want the Democrats to win the presidency and yes, I damn well think not enough supporters got out and voted.

Did you not learn from your tone-deaf “I’m not gonna vote” thread that politics is important, and you know jack shit about it? I mean, we all knew how horrible Trump was, but, somehow, you didn’t.
And, now that he’s gonna be in power, it’s even more important to fight. You may be privileged enough that it won’t affect you, but that’s not true for many people. It’s not entirely true for me, and it’s definitely not true for many of my friends. And I’m sure one or both of those is true for many people here.
Politics is important, and, for the possibly first time, a genuinely evil man was elected. Our only hope is his own incompetence–but that’s a double-edged sword. So we have to fight.
I hate saying this shit to someone who has anxiety problems, because it fucking sucks to get worried about the bad stuff that can happen. But pooh-poohing the people who are actually mentally able to handle this stuff isn’t good, either.
And, yes, I get you were trying to have a lighthearted bit of fun. I don’t hate you or anything. But this just isn’t the place.

But seriously. come on. Trump’s not “genuinely evil”, or at least not any more evil than anybody else. He’s kind of a moron, and he’s going to make a crappy president, but yea, you guys are making way too big a deal about this whole thing. Trump won, and stuff is going to suck, and I agree, we should work to stop him. But one thing I’ll say for him, and that’s that he’s a better landlord than a lot of people here. And the reason I say that is that you guys have been letting him live rent free in your heads since the election.
A bombardment of threads about “Oh, my God! Look at this horrible thing Trump said or did!”, doesn’t really help anything. It’s Orwell’s five-minute hate, a way for people to feel good about how terrible Trump is. Do it if you want, but don’t think Thelmalou’s repeated threads or your participation in it is anything more than just gratuitous bitching for your own amusement. Don’t pretend you’re being noble here.

“Genuine evil” is a phrase I’d hesitate to use for non-capital crime committing assholes. I’d say that Mr. Trump is a genuinely amoral man. That he demonstrates genuine unkindness in words and actions, that he is genuinely petty in his conduct. I’d say that he is genuinely unsuited (not just poorly suited or ill-equipped) for the position of POTUS due to his genuine deep character flaws, demonstrable lack of knowledge or inclination toward moral action. That he genuinely fits some valid definitions of terms like monstrous and beastly.
And this thread of ThelmaLou’s is about productive responses to the outrageous circumstances of this man’s election, it’s not about the outrage itself.
So please do voice your objections to BigT having concerns, and then kindly piss off.
