So it appears that our economies have changed over the years. Previous paradigms have given way to new ones. For instance, Most modern countries aren’t really into manufacturing anymore. There is a definite shift in the US to a service-based economy. This is kind of similar to the idea of a knowledge-based economy. But what I am wondering is if there will ever be some kind of sector that will come along and displace that as well? I see the phases like this:
Beginning: All Agriculture and some trading. Not much else.
Later: Agriculture gives way to industry after industrial revoltion
Today: Agriculture requires almost no workers, Industry is being replaced by service (about 1/3 to 1/2)
Tomorrow: That’s the point of the OP
So what exactly will the new thing be? Will there be something new? To me these previous divisons came along sequentially. First Ag, then Instudtry and now Service. Will there be something new that will displace workers from other areas and take up 1/3rd of the workers? I have absolutely no idea, but it does interest me. The reason why I am asking this is because I was reading how the EU’s goal was to transform itself into the most-competetive knowledge-based economy. I was thinking that this is the best we can acchieve now, but is there something thats even better?
