Inferiority complex, much?

Letter to the Editor in my local paper today (subject is recent banning of French movie Baise-Moi):

“IT IS not so much the assumption that adult Australians are most generally congenital idiots who are so abysmally incompetent as to be behaviourally moronised and inevitably barbaritised after viewing Baise-Moi, it is the rationalising unction, the “reasoning” that the presumption of the censors’ specially beatified personal judgment is so unchallengeably superior for the protection of the otherwise compelled-to-vote unexceptional imbeciles who comprise Australian adulthood.

Censorious moralists are not de facto parental guardians of everybody else.”

Someone has a dictionary and a great whacking fear of appearing stupid.

And people think my vocabulary is too big for them!

 Nice irony. They were trying so hard to be impressive, weren’t they?

Are “moronised” and “barbaritised” even actual words?

[hijack]

You’re a Sandgroper, Scorpio? Welcome to the SDMB from another West Aussie!

I saw that letter in The West myself a few hours ago. I’m been thinking for a while of starting a Pit thread on some of the lovely letters that are published in our charming local rag.

[/hijack]

I don’t know, but they’re making me laugh, so it’s good enough.

I thought the proper word for “moronised” was “moronificated.”

(laughs)

(stops, with dumbfounded expression on face)

Oh, they’re serious?

(awkward pause)

(resumes laughing)

Um, er I always thought we WERE congenital idiots me’self. Letters like that just confirm it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome to the boards Scorpio!
