I’d like to find out financial info about St. Mary’s Press. How stable they are, etc. I can google them, but I don’t what’s considered reliable info, etc.
Is it a good company? Is there anyway to find their attrition rate? Have they recently laid anybody off?
No, not really. I’m looking for a source to find neutral bias news for various companies. St. Mary’s Press was just an example. A company isn’t going to have any incentive to provide negative information about their own company.
You could see if your library or educational institution subscribes to Reference USA. Though I haven’t used it as much as I’d like, it has information on CEOs, the company’s credit ratings, and other useful information.
Non-profits have to provide their 990 or other statements by request, so you could always call them up if you can’t find them in an online search.
The form 990 will show things like revenue, account balances and the like. It will not show lay-offs or attrition statistics, but you might be able to infer those things by looking at the amount of payroll expense.
