Info about Calgary

I have recently moved to Calgary, my first time living in a large city, and I have been driving around the city a fair amount in the past week.

In this exploring I have noticed that there is an obscene amount of adult stores. It seems like on any major street there is a porn dealer every two blocks. Now don’t get me wrong I am all for porn, but this seems a tad excessive.

How can all of these stores stay in business? Is Calgary just really horney, or is this common in every major city?

Inquiring minds need to know.

I’d gather you see porn stores in most big cities from my travels - but I am wondering where in Calgary did you see so many? I know on a few of the major roads there are some porn shack like stores, and 17th Ave. has one adult video store plus there are some adult toy stores in the city, but I’ve never really noticed that many in the city.

When I was in Toronto - I was more suprised at the number of adult stores on Younge Street alone.

Humm - I’m in Calgary also and I’ve never noticed a large amount of porn stores either.

There’s that one by 14th street, and one down by the Brick. Those are actually the only two I can think of.

Where have you been hanging out, girl? (boy?)

Huh. I thought Calgary was pretty damned puritan compared to everywhere else I’ve lived. If you think it’s bad there, then stay out of any American city near a military installation.

Welcome to Calgary. I miss it very, very much.

Must be a prairie thing, I noticed the exact same thing when I lived in Regina. It seemed like on some streets there was nothing but adult video stores and gas stations alternating!

There’s maybe two adults stores that I know the location of here. Add me to the list of wondering where you are wandering.

Yeah, but that’s Regina.

Add me to the wondering list. There are a couple of adult stores in each quadrant, sure, but I don’t notice that there are tons of them. And I come from Saskatoon, which was a Temperance Colony and didn’t even have bars in half of the city until quite recently.

And welcome to Calgary. Where are you coming from, Ludy?
