Infomercials

Infomercials…who hasn’t seen them?
Have any of you actually bought something from one of these?
Were you happy or disgusted with your purchase?

I bought the Nads hair removal gel/wax ( what a name for a product! ) from a local store who stocks these “Only on TV products” and I was really disappointed. I’m glad I didn’t call in and waste even more money on S&H.

The only thing I ever bought from an infomercial is “The Flying Lure”. Paid $35 for a bunch of plastic lures and hooks. I have never used them and probably never will. The wife and I have a few items at a neighbors yard sale, I think I will run them over and see what I can get for them.

You know, and I know, that this thread is gonna get moved-the question is where? If it stays civil, it’s going to Cafe Society, and if people tell what they really think, this baby’s going to the Pit.

Target carries a lot of stuff “as seen on TV”

three words:

space.
bags.
rock!

For 5 bucks you get a big bag and a free travel bag. it did wonders in my linen closet.

I’ve purchased some golf-related doodads from infomercials on the Golf channel. Can’t say that any of them helped my game any…

I bought one of those Ronco Showtime Rotisserie (sp?) thingamajobs. I actually bought it in a store, not on the info-mercial though… and it was the same thing as I returned it. It kind of sucked.

The wife and I got another infomercial item for a wedding present (although they’re sold in stores too). A George Forman Grill.

It absolutely Kicks ass!.

bernse, is that the one that drains the fat?

The only thing I would like to keep purchasing from the Nads kit is the moisturizing lotion that comes with it. It smells hella good.

Did anyone notice they’re still running that toothbrush infomercial with Robert Urich? For the love of god – have some respect. I don’t want to remember him that way! :frowning:

(Oh, I have and love a Foreman Grill, but waited until it was in stores. I don’t recall EVER ordering anything from TV. I also have a FoodSaver which rules! Also from a store.)

i’ve used the nads hair removal glop. i actually like it, but i’m too lazy to spend such a long time ripping hair out (and it takes at least 20 minutes for each leg). plus i don’t want to wait until the hair is 1/4" long before i can rip it out again.

and we have a foodsaver too (you put your food in their bags or a jar with their lid sucker and it vacuums the air out of the container); this is definitely worth the money they charge.

I was kind of hoping to see if anyone had ordered that spray-on hair removal thing.

I ordered a Christmas CD my daughter wanted once. I’m not sure if it was from an infomercial or a regular comercial, but its the only thing I’ve ever bought from TV.

Which one? I guess it doesn’t matter as thats what they are both supposed to do…but I guess you’re talking about the Foreman. Yes, it drains the fat away into a little drip tray. Works like a hot damn. I can cook frozen solid hamburger patties in about 4 minutes (I’m guessing). Awsome for lunch. I also use it to grill chicken for Bernse’s famous Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. They are not “cheap” but they are good.

Actually, I have noticed several other brands of similar design on the market now that are cheaper. I suspect they should work just fine.

I recently bought one of those new garden hoses that is flat and winds up like a fireman’s hose. It is totally cool.

I bought the BANJO fishing lures. I have never caught a fish with those lures.

I own two Bose Acoustic Wave music systems, and three Bose Wave radios, though I didn’t buy them from infomericals (I work for Bose.) They are great, but then, they were free!

I bought the Phase 4 Orthotics (the foot things) though I haven’t been using them so I can’t say if they work or not.

I’m also planning on getting a Bowflex as soon as I move into my apartment and make some room.

:raises hand timidly:

Instead of spraying and wiping like on the infomercial.
It’s spray, wait 5 mins. while it drips all over the place, wipe, repeat until the hair is removed or your skin turns red and itchy.

I also got the electronic ab-belt. OMG that thing is great. After using it for 2 weeks, I lost an inch on my waist, and I can do this neat little trick where if you put your finger in my belly button, I can squeeze it real tight.

How YOU doin’?

Gosh, I read that quickly and thought you were talking about the spray-on hair!!!

You’re the first person who I’ve heard say the electronic ab-belt works. Which one did you buy? How much was it? I want to be able to do belly button tricks too!

I got this one. Sometimes you can get them on the home shopping channels for less. About a week after I got mine, I saw it on HSN for $20.00 less.

I am program director at a television station and part of my job is to review and either approve or reject paid programming before it airs. There is a new version of the Cybersonic toothbrush that was just released. It begins with an acknowledgment of Robert Urich’s death and explains that “it was his wish” that this infomercial continue. Urich was an owner of the company. The infomercial acknowledges that his family receives income from every sale. And the company is donating money from each sale to the Robert Urich Cancer Foundation.
