Ingredients in tooth polishing compounds

What are the ingredients in the polishing compound they polish the teeth with during your 6 month cleaning at the dentist. It always dries out my lips real bad and I’m wondering if it contains sodium lauryl sulfate.

Pumice, fluoride, color and flavors IIRC don’t think they have SLS. However there are so many brands I can’t say for sure. the one in are office doesn’t have it listed.

Shouldn’t get much on your lips, may be dry from holding mouth open

what brand does your office use? I will try to find a MSDS sheet

Be careful, using too much tooth polish can destroy your teeth’s enamel.

I use a dental paste (which isn’t a polish, but a re-enamelizer) which is derived from milk casein. The tube’s stamped with a big warning label to not be used if you’re allergic to milk protein. Funnily enough, there’s no warning for the other 60-odd chemical ingredients, so they must be perfectly safe. //rolleyes//

I’ll try to remember to look tomorrow for MSDS

sorry to take so long to get back.

we use Zooby brand. According to the MSDS it contains the hazards: Sodium Fluoride, Glycerine, Sodium Saccharin, and Xylitol but no SLS.

I imagine this is similar to most if not all major brands.
