Insight into the mind of a Trump supporter

A friend of mine sent me this link today with genuine concern asking, “Do you think this is really going to happen? Can you research this?”

http://americarightnow.com/u-s-news/u-n-says-they-will-soon-occupy-america-under-hillary-going-door-to-door-taking-guns/

When I responded that it was ridiculous and in no way resembled reality, he told me I was ignorant for thinking it could never happen here.

This is the kind of stuff 20% of the country genuinely believes. They aren’t concerned about jobs and the economy and trade deals. They think Hillary is going to take over America and take all their guns away. For reals.

Yep. Just like Obama did.

Trump supporters don’t have minds.

People left behind by education that the GOP always cuts…
…that are easily controlled and directed through fear…

:frowning:

[Del]Home of The Brave[/del] Make America a Mob Again

I’m not sure education has anything to do with it. Sure there’s a correlation between the Trumpidiots and the uneducated, but it’s not like they train you in school on how to debunk conspiracy theories.

I think there is a certain psychological type that wants to believe they are the only ones who know the truth. Everyone else is fooled but they can see through the facade. It gives them an inflated sense of purpose to feel this way, so they will mold their beliefs around that feeling without even realizing what is truly motivating them.

Clueless, easily-led cowards.

There really isn’t.

I guess this just rehashed and warmed over from Obama’s first term. Anyone remember the ‘frightening’ rumor? That Obama was going turn over U.S. Sovereignty to the U.N.?

I had tried to argue with idiots over this. 1) He has never given any hint he wanted to do this. 2) He has no authority to do it. 3) There is no mechanism for him to do it (it’s not like he can go the U.N. and hand 'em a set of keys) 4) Even if he wanted to, had the authority to and went to the U.N., I doubt the U.N. would take that monstrous headache. They would probably just call him an ambulance. 5) The U.N. doesn’t really have any troops. Whenever the U.N. needs muscle in the form of troops, they are mostly American Troops. and on and on…

For 8 years, a friend of mine has been telling me Obama was coming with his jack-booted thugs (they’re always jack-booted, huh? Wonder where I can me some jack-boots) and personally break down his door and get his guns. I wonder if he’s disappointed that he wasn’t important enough for the jack-boot personal attention.

Get Jack really drunk and when he passes out, grab 'em!

I’ve noticed that the people who are afraid this is going to happen don’t seem to have an issue with bragging on social media that they have them.

Um, yeah. Did any of these people notice that Obama didn’t take away their guns?

Going door to door to take away our guns is straight out of The Turner Diaries, possibly the nastiest piece of racist garbage out there. It is like a dog whistle.

Well, they stopped him, didn’t they?

Given how much she goes on about ‘gun safety’, they’re right to be concerned. She won’t take away their guns, just make ownership incrementally more and more difficult.

Actually, they do (or try to). I teach undergrads at a mid-level university, and “critical thinking” is drilled into us as something we need to stress in almost every course. Sometimes this means the nuances of the scientific method; sometimes it means digging into sources; sometimes it means considering the context and the writer’s “agenda” when doing a reading.

Sure, some students will still be gullible and uncritical (hey, we all have our blind spots), but it’s definitely an explicit goal of higher education (in high schools, too, though – so maybe that indicates we ARE failing miserably in this endeavor.)

Yeah, like by making the current laws preventing crazy people from getting guns enforceable, by requiring background checks, just like the NRA used to encourage. I can see why they’d be threatened by that.

And yet another hole in this idea is that the UN doesn’t have any of its own soldiers. “UN soldiers” are just soldiers from countries that are acting based on a UN resolution, and the vast majority of them are American soldiers. So “the UN taking over the US” really means “the US military staging a coup”.

20 guns, a $300 transistor radio, a basement full of MREs and a safe full of gold coins they paid 2x the spot price for. And they wonder why they’re not getting ahead.

It’s a Hell of a lot older than that.

The original globalist cabal was, of course, the Jews. They’re still the globalist cabal, but the smarter of the conspiracy theorists have learned that if you say “Jewish Conspiracy” in polite company, people begin to realize what you really are. It peels off the mask a bit, you see, and the toothbrush mustache becomes visible. Luckily, the Bolsheviks became the Soviets and were still Jews at heart, just like old Karl Marx was, so they could couch their hatred in terms of Anti-Communism. Communism’s internationalist bent just makes it even better: The Jews, who are all Communists, are using subversion to overthrow all national governments and implement One-Worldism and an Anti-Christian state, called a “New World Order” even back then. The John Birch Society, the Tea Party of the 1950s, fits in about here, but they weren’t alone.

The UN has been the first stage of the New World Order’s One World Government for as long as it’s existed. Even worse, many Presidents and other leaders, especially George H. W. Bush, have used the phrase “New World Order” to describe what they saw as big turning points in history. The fact GHWB was President during the end of the Cold War is utterly irrelevant because the dollar bill has a pyramid on it and they can mis-translate a tired Latin tag. (Novus Ordo Seclorum)

The whole New World Order thing is older than Bush the Elder, of course; it’s mentioned in the screed None Dare Call It Conspiracy (1971), probably the most hilariously misnamed book of the past four decades. However, the most modern form comes from GHWB’s time, because after the Cold War, the traditional enemy was gone so somewhat different versions of the old stories had to be invented. The right-wing conspiracy theory tropes most familiar to me, the black helicopters and FEMA concentration camps, for example, come from this period. The imminent confiscation of all firearms is older, but a hardy perennial watered from time to time with the gold of so-called patriots. Anyway, that’s when this crap was first articulated in its modern form; the stuff they’re throwing at Hillary Clinton now is essentially the same as what they threw at her and Bill Clinton when Bill was President. Obama was an unknown when this iteration of the insanity virus evolved.

The modern right-wing militias come from this era also, as do their terrorist actions. Abortion clinic bombings, the Oklahoma City bombing… the 1990s weren’t a carefree time. There was a serious up-tick in right-wing violence. Even if Trump causes a substantial increase in general fuckery, it would take quite a bit to get back to those levels. (And the 1990s weren’t a patch on the 1920s, when the reformed KKK ran rampant with no effective governmental response… )

Ultimately, for all that this insanity’s changed, it’s all the same stuff underneath. It’s still rampant xenophobia, still antisemitism in a thin mask, still jumping at shadows. The Sovereign Citizen movement is a close cousin to all of this, and it heartens me to see law enforcement taking it seriously. It gives us a chance to avoid or short-circuit another rise of this kind of violence.

Meanwhile in Australia our politicians have been having a bit of a spat about gun control too. Consists of all and sundry defending themselves vehemently from the damaging charge that they might be letting more guns IN to the country…

If you’re a crazy person, it’s probably true that Hillary wants to take your guns.

Most of us think that’s a good thing.

I know a place where you can see inside the minds of 100s of Trumpsters. All you have to do is post a discussion topic that you think is a convincing reason why …Trump would not be the greatest president America ever had. (See link below.)

Its a forum of Trumpsters who have invited all people, with all views, to discuss politics with them. A forum where no one will be banned for expressing opposing views.

So, Try to “turn a Trumpster” or talk reason with them. https://disqus.com/home/discussion/channel-politicalrhetoricbusters/trump_surges_ahead_of_clinton_in_poll_conducted_by_his_brain/

I’ve been posting for a couple of weeks on there and… Oh, the adventures I have had! And the things I have learned! Did you know: all media is biased and owned by Hitlary, who is owned by the Rothchilds, especially The New York Times and even Fox, but only when the polls are down for Trump.

Simple strategy for not having to deal with too many lines of arguments at the same time: if they bring up the Rothschilds un-ironically, you may dismiss and ignore. I mean, what is this, 1918??
