anyone else have this? I have found that when I’m having a bout of insomnia(like right now, why else would I be posting at 4:00 PM?) I urinate ALOT, both in amount and frequency.
fuck. make that 4:00 AM. see? i really do need sleep.
Have your prostate gland checked (I’m assuming you’re a man). An enlarged prostate can make it difficult to empty your bladder. A partially full bladder can cause a level of discomfort (but not actual pain) that makes it hard to sleep, and makes you feel like you want to urinate all the time.
Is the urination painful? If so, you may have a urinary tract infection. Check it out, because they can spread to your kidneys and are a bitch to kick.
This is not meant to be alarmist but two friends of mine developed diabetes and prior to their diagnosis both found increased urination during the night to be an issue (the one kid I knew while at camp and he caught hell for pissing his bed on a regular basis…the following year he returned and we learned he was diabetic).
NOTE: I am NOT a doctor. I am sure there are many things that could be at issue here with none of them relating to diabetes. Your best money is to check with yoru own doctor.
When up late, I also have to pee a lot. However, it’s just because I tend to drink a lot of water and diet soda throughout the day and pretty late at night. I think it’s just what I’ve drunk during the day catching up to me. Also, I bet you’re not peeing that much more, it just seems like you are since you have to get out of bed to do it.
sorry, dont have one
Already been checked for diabetes due to a fatigue issue(turns out I’m anemic). Just a wierd insomnia thing I guess.
When I had insomnia due to depression 3 years ago, I remember having to pee a lot the first few nights. I don’t remember drinking any more than normal, so I have no idea what might have caused it.
When you are asleep, your pituitary gland increases its secretion of ADH (anti-diuretic hormone). This decreases urine production and concentrates the urine so your sleep is interrupted less often.
If you stay awake - no increase in ADH - you pee more. Also you probably continue your intake of fluids while awake.
